I came to this place to try because it was in the Michelin Bib Gourmand list. Visited on a weekday morning and the places wasn't crowded, there were empty seats when I arrived. Not a lot of dine in customers but there was a flow of customers, quite a lot doing takeaways. Asked the cashier lady to give some recommendations and she just advised me to order the minimal. I was wondering whether to have the noodles and sides and she told me noodles would suffice since I'm a solo diner and would give me some soup without ordering. I think the recommended noodles was the pork chop one so I ordered that, together with the sour plum tea. Food didn't take long to be served, and i was quite shocked at the portion of the noodles, which I think could be big enough for 2 to share if you just wanted a light breakfast. I would say the bowl of noodles was pretty nice, the sauce was to my liking and I think the pickled vegetables did help a lot to enhance the taste of it as well. The bowl of noodles was really big I stuffed myself to finish it as not to waste the food. The part I didn't like was the pork chop. I read it was fried to order but it was cold. Not only cold, it was also super greasy. Had to lift the pork chop up from the oil and put it at the side of the plate to let the oil flow from the pork chop. Also it was on the dry side so I didn't really enjoy it. The sour plum tea might be the best saviour for the greasiness and it was also quite refreshing and not too sour. It was a decent meal, not sure Michelin worthy but maybe...

My mom and her brother have been eating here for the last 50 years. They love it. It's a no frill taiwanese noodle parlour run by a family. The food is good but I think for many in Taichung, it's more nostalgic than anything else.
The broth is excellent but I really don't think the pork chop is worth screaming about. But, it is cozy and fun. A worthwhile experience of you're visiting Taichung and want to eat where the locals eat.
This is not a place for you if you don't like loud places (the cashier hollers into a microphone to communicate with the kitchen), needs a parking space (it's next to impossible in central Taiwan), or wants a super Instagram-able...
