I think this place is overrated.
Yes, it LOOKS stylish, both the building and the food. But firstly, due to the high ceilings and no proper wall treatment that would absorb the sound, it's super noisy (I'm a drummer, so I'm not THAT sensitive but it was too much, even for me).
The staff is not exactly unfriendly but somewhat indifferent, so it's not particularly fun to interact with them.
The food is overpriced- presentation is nice, but what happened to the taste? The bread is cut thinly and then toasted, so you don't taste the original flavor anymore.
The "hummus" is too cold and most importantly doesn't have anything to do with hummus, but luckily it was spread in such homeopathic quantities that I didn't taste too much of it anyway.
The seating is not very comfortable, you are very close to other guests and the chairs resemble some high school equipment that is not known for being comfortable.
Coffee is solid, but since minimum consumption per person is higher than the price of a coffee you'll need to order something else with it.
On the plus side, veggie dishes are clearly marked and staff speaks good English.
This being said, the cons outweigh the pros and I...

My girlfriend has a nut allergy and ended up having a reaction and needing medication. Luckily hers isn’t life-threatening, but it could have been a lot worse!
When we asked the staff whether there were nuts in the food, they had no idea and had to check with the kitchen. Only then did they confirm that yes, it did. That kind of uncertainty around allergens is really dangerous.
It honestly felt like they didn’t grasp how serious this could have been. We were lucky but if someone with a severe allergy had eaten that, it could have ended very differently. This needs to be...
Read moreMy favourite coffee shop in Taichung. The building itself was a historical bldg. It was nicely done, the interior was spacious and the mood and tone of the space was relaxing. There is a minimum spend of 250 ntd per person if you wanna sit upstairs. It was fine if u have a cup and breakfast.
There was also seating at balcony outside looking over the old Japanese influence old house, which was really nice. The barristas and staffs were nice. Coffee was amazing. 2 house blend has such a distinctive flavour, beautiful tea-like, flowery note for light roast was really amasing.
Breakfast was amasing and the egg tart served after 12 must not be...
