Ding Yuan Restaurant — Restaurant in Taichung

Wanted to grab lunch here. Stood outside the restaurant, the staff only looked out and no one came to attend to my friends and I. After we entered and said we wanted to dine here, one female staff (auntie) led us to the table and said minimum spend of 300twd/pax. We understood that & sat down and proceeded to look at the menu. Around only 5 minutes later, the same female staff made a remark along the line of “if we could not hit 300twd/pax, please leave”. My friends and I were just looking through the menu to see what we could order, so I replied to give us a minute. The female staff then said again “you can look at the menu outside (of the restaurant)”. We stood up and left immediately. There was only 1 table of customer at that time.

The food was not up to standards. Here's the experience:

A friend and I went in to a roughly empty restaurant at about 11.30am on Thursday. We chalked the emptiness to a factor of weekdays. We were about to order a few snacks when the waiter told us that there was a minimum 300 NTD per person. That was a bit surprising, but we were okay with it as long as the food tasted good.

It didn't. We ordered the beef noodles and were given a plate full of noodles with about four pieces of beef. Sad thing is the beef tasted quite okay, but there was so little of it. We order shrimp siewmai, carrot cake, and shrimp wrapped in tofu skins. The first two were... unimpressive, while the last one tasted like I had a mouthful of oil.

We ordered three dishes. The first dish came then the second. We were almost finished with both dishes and checked with the waiter on the last dish. The waiter checked with the kitchen staff and told us they had missed the order, then said it is currently frozen and it will take time to steam it. (very unprofessional) The order finally came out, I took a bite and saw the meat inside was still raw. We checked the rest and it was uncooked as well.
