Heres my reviews, I went here last night to have Birthday's Dinner. Some sections are nice, and some are not really worth it.

Review:

I love the waiter and waitress here who are keen to help! but i dont really like the chef at the risotto session, he is being in a not good attitude in serving that Truffle Risotto last night. He probably should learn from the Duck/Chasiew (Hongkongnese section) old lady chef who are friendly to serve us.

The indian cuisine is superb!! Love the curry and fried fish very much! The herbs rice are nice to dig in. they also give you some Indian sweets too

Another section which is worth to try is the Chinese and Hongkongese Cuisine, their dimsum, chasiew叉燒肉, duck and stewed bitter gourd and mushroom soup are delicious (MUST TRY)!! except for the springroll, theres two springroll i eat which the filling are not cooked. but too bad, when I want the extra chasiew 叉燒肉, its already nothing left and what shock me that they wont refill it anymore (shouldnt buffet should keep refilling the food? and Its just around 7 pm when I ask for another one).

The meat section, the beef is nice! but to the chicken is not. The chicken i got is cold, not warm at all, seems like being left there untouched.

The veggies on salad section, arent fresh at all. I saw the lettuce are becoming yellow on some part of the leaves. but still, i love how they served the bean and peas and quinoa.

Japanese section, sushi are good but they dont have Tuna (maybe because they also have Iradori on the upstair to serve more Japanese food). But the problem is the Uramaki, I am really fortunate to eat the one which the rice gotten hard. Its really not good at all. How come they serve hard-rice sushi?

Juice are OK, but to be honest, the fruit itself is sweet and nice to eat. If you want fruity stuff, better eat the fruit than drink thw Juice, (the watermelon and pineapple is nice)

Desserts are must to eat! they have a nice selection of desserts and even serve you a special birthday cake if you tell them you celebrate birthday that night.

PS: You should try the Chili sauce sections to enrich your pallate! I love how they prepare the Sambal too ( since I am spicy eater, and coming from Southeastern Asia country)

Overall, for me, they should really improve again and amend more. Never overlook on the...

Café, Grand Hyatt Taipei — polished buffet with real substance Café at Grand Hyatt Taipei is the hotel’s all-day buffet on the lobby level, and it hits that rare sweet spot where range, quality, and service all align. The room feels lively without being chaotic, and the open kitchens keep energy (and aromas) in constant motion. For breakfast, the spread starts early and runs deep; later services lean into plentiful seafood, roasts, and a global line-up done with hotel-grade consistency.

What stands out Seafood station that actually delivers: This summer’s 35th-anniversary refresh loads the raw/cold bar with daily arrivals—think crab, fresh shrimp, mussels, conch, and clams—plus seasonal cooked seafood with regional spins. It’s generous and well-kept, not an afterthought.

Open-kitchen “live” counters: Rotating stations cover Chinese and Taiwanese favorites, Japanese items, Indian/Malaysian curries, and a Western carving board (ribeye, risotti, etc.). It reads like a greatest-hits tour without cutting corners.

Breakfast done right: If you’re staying in-house, the morning buffet runs Mon–Fri 6:30–10:00 and Sat–Sun till 10:30, priced around NT$900 +10%—a sharp value for the breadth (Western staples plus local congee/noodles, buns, soy milk).

Practical details Service windows (non-breakfast): Typical hours post-breakfast are Lunch 11:30–14:00, Afternoon Tea 15:00–17:00, Dinner 18:00–21:00. Always check for seasonal adjustments.

Booking tips: It’s popular on weekends/holidays—reserve ahead. Online reservations hold tables 15 minutes; large parties may be split unless arranged. Smart-casual dress code.

Easy access: First floor of the hotel, a short walk from Taipei 101/World Trade Center (MRT)—handy for business lunches and family meet-ups.

Verdict Café isn’t just a “big buffet.” It’s a well-run dining room that treats volume and variety with hotel-level discipline. Come for the seafood and carving stations, stay for the smart regional selections, and plan a return for breakfast—you’ll leave well fed at every service.

The best buffet breakfast I have EVER TRIED. The spread is AMAZING. I also notice that every station does their food extremely well and efficiently. There are a high volume of guests for breakfast, and in addition to catering to the quantity of people, the details in the food are also executed perfectly. The dim sum section is always well-stocked and always tastes fresh. The yoghurt and overnight oats/muesli bowl is perfect and you can tell that it has been perfected and refined over the years. The waffle and pancake section is truly amazing as well, it is the first time I have enjoyed a pancake station at a hotel. Additionally, the salad bar, bread bar, egg station and bacon station have all been excellent. I also love the virginia ham - it is always well cooked, never dry, never too salty. The staff's efficiency in seating us is admirable, and I hope the Hyatt management recognises the floor staff and kitchen staff's effort in keeping this establishment running...

visit again for afternoon tea. not nearly as good as our first visit. major changes include: -no salmon sashimi (but there was dill smoked salmon) -the cut used for roast beef was of noticeably lower grade and quality, with numerous tendons and very tough to cut (if rare) and chewy (if medium well). overall very inconsistent. staff attitude was somewhat poor and the preparation method could be substantially improved (perhaps sous vide followed by high heat for a crust?) 1.5/5 desserts are proper, 5 star hotel quality and there is an excellent spread. special call out to the chocolate tart (slice), banana tart, strawberry tart, and coffee cakes. 4.5/5 whilst roast station was not great, hot dishes were very good with good variety and quality. the indian selections were quite good. 4/5 quality of certain products have decreased substantially, but still good value. visit(s): 20230408
