A great place to sit and work for a few hours, especially being on the river (you can also access it from the river!) The internet speeds were once slow but are now incredible - I've uploaded a photo of my speed test from the troublesome back room and it's sensational. I managed to get about 4 hours of work. The beverage selection is wonderful too! While this place is pricey, it's great to just hang there and get things done. There are power ports in most places so you can charge up, which is exactly what we did before heading to the bus station and going to our next city. The place is an aesthetic dream - every single spot is a picture. The decorations and the furniture were absolutely spot on. I also loved seeing both locals and tourists entering this place too. I will say that this is not the quintessential Thai experience you'll typically look for. That said, it's a unique twist on the local offering. They also has oat milk as well, though it's oatly, which I prefer to avoid. There's one odd thing, when we were leaving, the guy cleaning up asked us if we'd paid, twice in about 30 seconds. He's the one who served me twice. Assuming he's tired but it was very odd. regardless, I'd totally come back and spend more time here. Shame I discovered the place a few hours...
Read moreTime for some coffee. This is a great place on the river with delicious coffee. Unfortunately, I did not try the desserts, but many people seemed to be enjoying their food. The coffee is great and reminds me of some favorites in Chiang Mai. We tried the piccolo, dirty and latte. They also have drip coffees. The coffee has good flavor and is made well, but the specialty drinks are not strong. The cocoa and tea are good, but the coffee was my favorite. We tried chamomile, earl gray and morning breakfast teas. The staff were professional. Along with desserts, they do offer meal options and a couple of salads. We sat at a table with a sofa, so we were comfortable as we sat out a rain storm. I hope to be back, but I donât usually go to this side. There is a neat hotel next door, so this place is a great place for the guests (although the hotel has good food, also). This place has a...
Read moreThe Petit Soleil can be visited for its location alone. By a pretty river walk running along the Chao Phraya, the café has incredible views from its ground floor dining area with marble tables, floor to ceiling glass windows and wooden floors. Let your eyes wonder and the design will charm you. Styled after French bistros, it includes tulle curtains, plaster-of-paris statuary, old wooden doorways and antique chandeliers. The café plays slow French numbers in an endless loop to enhance the Franco-Europienne aesthetics. The real secret, accessed by an unobtrusive staircase is the absolutely delightful rooftop terrace with garden chairs and marble tables overlooking the busy Chao Phraya and the Pinklao and Rama IV bridges. It's a scene difficult to tear...
