Though the restaurant is located near tourist area, each Thai dishes is cooked as Thai taste. Beware of the spicy dishes if you are not the spicy chili lover. Many old Thai dishes are also served here and worth trying even you are Thai since they are hardly found elsewhere.

It is seemed pork is not their expertise, I would recommend to avoid pork and better order the fish, shrimp or others. Western dishes should also be avoided, except you are curious to know the Thai-nised version.

Re-visits May 2023 After the COVID-19 pandermics, the number of staffs was decreased. It would take loner time to wait for the food if there are more than two table of guests in the restaurant. The quality of food is still very good with very humble price. The restaurant still serve non-fancy Thai dish with well-trained Thai cooking skills. Many dishes is rarely seen today. I would suggest to order Nam Prik. Nak Prik is composed of a dipping source and accompanied vegetables. The dish was considered as main dish of Thai meals in the old day. When the life of drive with go fast, Thai full course was simplified to a single dish and Nam Prik disappear from regular food culture. Here, Nam Prik was well made served with various vegetables (boilded, deep-fried, raw) as it should be. It is a shame to accept that in the capital of Thai, a good Thai food is rare. The fancy Thai restaurant charging with over-price, along with claiming as fine dining, is cooked by non-skill staffs, as they are trained under international kitchen curiculum, but never trained under Thai kitchen, nor know the language and grammar of Thai cooking. Here is the place that you may find a normal Thai taste and too humble...

What a wonderful place ! The menu is so refined yet so authentic with a ribambelle of choices more and more unexpected, you will be able to taste ancient recipes made with whole and tasteful ingredients, for the more adventurous they even serve the famous croco thai! You will literally travel time thanks to the hosts delightful taste of music and decoration which will made you feel strangely at home and yet in a romantic dream. More than a restaurant it is also a café, which propose very good tea. I strongly recommend this address, the owners were so sweet and happy when I said ( or mimed ) that their food was really good. Yes the price is higher than others but the quality is there and I have seen ancient recipes that I have never seen anywhere else, and let be honest a generous plate there is almost the same price as a coffee in Paris, I...

Intrigued by the idea of trying crocodile meat in curry (spoiler: it’s good, though very expensive by Thai standards), the four of us showed up early at Hemlock.

On the plus side: the menu is extensive (maybe too much?), each dish seems freshly prepared and is excellent. However, be warned about the major downside: the service takes a very VERY long time. We arrived around 8:00 PM, and the first dish was served about an hour later (and I mean one dish, not one per person). The next item, six (delicious) dumplings, came 15 minutes after that. The main dishes, fortunately served all at once, arrived a bit after 9:30 PM, when we were nearly the only ones in the restaurant. Needless to say, the family that came in at 9:00 PM left by 9:30 PM without ordering anything. So be warned if you’re hoping for a quick bite or if you’re just...

I’ve ate here 15 years ago and it’s still one of the best restaurants in the area, offering a huge range of traditional and authentic dishes, reasonably priced. Even thai people will find the menu to be very unique. The place is charming and special with art on the walls, a piano and jazzy playlist. The owners are very friendly, attentive and intelligent. The Miang kham is my favorite thai dish and they offer a few versions of it. There are also some vegan vegetarian pescatarian and gluten-free options. It’s great for a solo eater , a couple on a date or a small group. Nowadays the kitchen closes at 8pm and the place closes at 9pm, probably because of covid. I hope to return here soon. I know I sound like I work here but I’m just a very grateful customer - you can google my name and contact me.

Special Thai dishes w/relaxed atmosphere. We were looking for a quiet and delicious place to eat for our last night in Thailand, and we were not disappointed! The interior is simple but also unique with jazzy soft music and plants growing from the floor! I had a coconut shake which was made with fresh young coconut, so fresh and wonderful! The miang as appetizer was heavenly and fun to make! The curry with the 9 vegetables and prawns was delicious too! So nice to find such a gem only a stone's throw from Khao San Road. We asked if the owner would make a cookbook, as the food was just so much better than much of what we'd eaten in our month in Thailand!
