I had small event to celebrate and so I decided to celebrate by treating myself to something special. I had eaten at the Vorra restaurant, the food and service was fantastic. It was well worth the money. I would even say it was good value for money.
I noticed that they have a breakfast. I think it is safe to assume the quality of food an service will be the same. It was not. The service was nice. The food was appalling. I ordered an Eggs Benedict. Everything about it was terrible. I was hungry so I ate it and paid. However my feeling at eating and paying was anger, disappointment and injustice. It was very low quality bacon, the bread didn't appear to be fresh to me. The eggs were fine.
As I paid I expressed how disappointed I was. I wanted to tell them that offering a discount on the food I have eaten left me with a feeling of being disrespected. I have had a terrible experience, so it should cost me less. Actually there is no amount of money which can repair the upset and anger I have felt. On the other hand I now have to be culturally sensitive to an innocent server. So instead of being happy at the solution, I felt like I was put in a double bind. If I return the money I will insult the server. If I accept it I will also feel insulted. The money is NOT the point. I wouldn't have paid if it was important!
I gave my feedback so the hotel/bistro could improve, being discounted was the wrong move and makes me feel cheap and also makes me feel my feedback will not be taken seriously.
I wouldn't eat breakfast here even if I was paid to eat there. It was a four letter word!
In fairness the service was very good. The atmosphere was also very good,...
Read moreThe restaurant offers really good service. Their staff are polite and smiling. The atmosphere was exceptional.
We ordered truffle soup, pasta, and burger. All of them had problem with flavors. I really love the complimentary bread served for appetizer. It was really yummy. We hope the restaurant keeps this one as it was an only good dish we had for our lunch.
Truffle soup: Although we ate it all, we were quite sure that the puff pastry was undercooked. Sai Oua Pasta had no flavors and too small amount of meats comparing to price. We had to add salt and pepper to be able to finish it. Jalapeño Beef burger was bland and the beef was so dry. Insufficient amount of the sauce. We cannot feel any Jalapeño or any spiciness and ended up eating it with ketchup.
We did not tell anything to the staff as they are so nice to us and it is NOT their fault.
Free advice to the owner : Please change the head chef. Everything the restaurant providing is good except ‘the food’ that still not meet the standard. Please check all food quality before serving to...
Read moreDuring my stay in The Chiang Mai Old Town Hotel I enjoyed a high level quality experience in The Vorra Bistro restaurant. The place is the perfect choice for a quiet evening with your partner or your family. It is located in the city center and is very easy to arrive there by walking. The feeling you have when you enter in this restaurant is that you are a king or a queen and everybody is there to serve you and to make sure that you´ll have the best experience. Sometimes they organize evening with live music and chill atmosphere. The quality of food is very similar to the one that you get in 5 stars restaurants from Europe so I think it´s a plus for the European tourists.I will definitely visit it again on my next trip...
