This hotel is a hidden gem. Arriving in Chiang Mai for the first time we knew we wanted to stay in the old city but had no idea where to select. The Rim was a random selection but ended up being a blessing. While the rooms are a bit dated, the service, friendliness of the staff, the extensive breakfast buffet and the prompt attention given to guest is unmatched. We were able to walk to any destination we wanted in the old city. Near the hotel we found favorite restaurants, massage therapist and a place for manicures and pedicures. The businesses were local so the cost was much less than the five star locations. We left the old city for a few days and upon our return initially decided to try another hotel. As we thought about it and researched, we could not find anywhere which compared and provided as much value for cost. The staff took time to get to know the guest and each morning at breakfast they knew our normal breakfast requests. We did fell like a part of The Rim’s family. The front desk staff is always ready to assist in any matter and provide excellent recommendations. Their recommendations saved us much time and expense. All staff members made us feel special and part of the family. I can’t close without mentioning one staff member who stuck out even more than the excellent professionals. Art, the front desk manager always went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable. I called front desk with a room issue and Art personally came to my room to ensure my room issue was resolved. All of this happened 15 minutes before he was due to finish his work time. When I thanked him he told me we were family and he had to take good care of us. You can not pay for this kind of attention and service. Any time I am in Chiang Mai I will be back at The Rim where I am considered family....

Had a very pleasant 3 night stay at the Rim. The staff is very courteous and welcoming. Special thanks to the front desk in setting up a tour to Doi Inthanon in the last minute and Wat Phra Singh, is just a block from the hotel :)
The food at Canal restaurant is moderately okay. ( The interior and exterior of the restaurant setups the customer for a high quality dining experience but the taste of the food doesn’t deliver. The complimentary breakfast options are good )
The room itself is quite comfy. The bathroom is spacious.
But will I stay in the Rim again? I would have to say no. The following is what would make me come back to the Rim.
Wifi speeds are non existent. I could only get 4G on AIS in the room that I stayed in. Even that was faster than the wifi. The water in the shower is either scalding hot or very cold. Spent minutes adjusting these, but god! The light switches are scattered throughout. I wish there was a master switch that would avoid me running around and hunting for switches when I am super tired. The food options can be improved. Chiang Mai is famous for Khao Soi, yet a good version of that is not in the menu. The pool for some reason, doesn’t feel clean or inviting.
But, the room we stayed in had a nice balcony/sit out area that opens into a garden. Me and my wife got a bottle of Johnny Walked and some nuts from a nearby 7 11 and talked...
Read moreWe had a wonderful 5 night stay at The Rim Resort Hotel in Chiang Mai during our recent trip to Thailand. This is a fantastic boutique hotel in the city but far enough away from any noise. The hotel is an oasis of calm and relaxation. We had a grand deluxe room with a great balcony, the room had everything we could possibly wish for, it was very comfortable and spacious with a great bathroom (shower and bathtub), the hotel is spotlessly clean and kept to a very high standard. The breakfast options are great with lots of choices including vegetarian. The staff are amazing and go out of their way to help in any way they can, everyone we met who worked at the hotel, reception staff, cleaning staff, night security man, hotel drivers were all extremely helpful and polite. The hotel organised our half day at the elephant sanctuary which is a must if in Chiang Mai, they also arrange a bus every night at 7pm you can book onto that takes you down to the night market again, this is a must visit. The pool and pool area are wonderful for a peaceful dip to cool off. We stayed during the New Year celebrations and the hotel had a brilliant New Year's Eve meal and entertainment for all the guests. We will definitely come back to The Rim next time we visit Chiang Mai and highly recommend this hotel. Thanks to everyone at the Rim for making our stay such a memorable one, Tracey &...
