Oh my GOODNESS, Baan Boo Loo Village is hands down one of my favorite places where I've ever had the opportunity to stay while traveling. It's nestled in a quiet neighborhood in Chiang Mai, just far enough from the busier streets to feel like a tucked away tree house, but close enough that you can walk to the main restaurants and shopping area within 5 minutes.
The rooms are all unique, with some parts that are open aire, and air conditioning in the main sleeping areas. I stayed in the lower bedroom of the Mango House and the bed was comfortable, the suite was spacious, and the bathroom was stunningly beautiful. In the common area shared by both the upper and lower suites of the Mango House, we had a dining table with a bowl of fresh, local fruit and a fridge full of bottled water.
There are intricate details placed into the design of this place. It was days before I realized that the tile pattern in our shower was an elephant trunk design, and the tile design in the courtyard made a goose head. Everywhere you look are intricately carved wooden stenciling, metal fish with gleaming rhinestone eyes, verandas build around huge, old trees, tiny tree frogs living inside cisterns of water, and sweetly scented flowers and plants in the courtyard that make you feel like you are living in a secret garden.
The FOOD; I can't stop thinking about the breakfasts they served us each morning. It was the best Thai food I had in Thailand, and there were so many options to try local favorites that were freshly prepared by their chef each day. They had some comfort foods from home, too, like a made to order omelet option, several breads with jam and cheeses, and a huge selection of teas & cocoas, and two quality coffee machines that grind and brew your cup on the spot. Breakfast became my biggest and most anticipated meal of the day. I can't say enough about how incredible it was. Check out the photos I included!
It is family-owned, and all the staff go out of their way to be helpful, setting up a private car driven by a trusted neighbor for us one day to get to several points of interest. They offered to set up a private cooking lesson and guide for shopping in the markets, and had on-site laundry service for guests to take advantage of. Someone is on site at all times and the door locks at a certain time (guests are provided a code to enter) making it very safe and secure.
This place is a 100 out of 10 in all ways, and I can't wait to visit and stay here again in the future. Thank you for everything Baan...
Read moreThe highlight of our whole trip to Thailand was finding this gem and staying at this lovely traditional Thai accommodation. This place is full of love , harmony, and care; this can be felt the right moment you step inside the village and are welcomed by the sweet host. We found the accommodation to be very comfortable, spacious and spotless clean. The AC in the bedroom worked really well and it did not make any noise. The bed was extremely comfortable and wide - I am prone to back ache and did not have any while staying here! The breakfasts were delicious and freshly cooked, it is not an overstretch to say that this was the best Thai food I had while in Thailand, as every bite was flavoursome and the freshness and quality of the ingredients was a true awakening for our tastebuds. It was really nice to find every day bottled water and fresh local fruit in our fridge in the room. As the place is surrounded by lush green surroundings, caution needs to be taken for mosquitoes, and the host provided us with a mosquito repellent upon our arrival - one bottle of spray each, this was another really nice touch. During the night the place is really peaceful, we could only hear night birds calling and the noises of the trees around us, and this, we felt, enhanced our stay with a natural retreat type of feeling, the calm of this place is indeed very zen! During our stay the host provided us with invaluable tips for things to see and do in Chiang Mai, making sure we would not miss out on local markets ( definitely not to be missed, especially Jing Jai market), and activities. We were booked to a local spa for an evening massage after visiting two local temples on the day of our arrival! Everything suited us perfectly and I felt really centred during my stay at the Baan Boo Loo village in Chiang Mai. To...

I can't say enough good things about Baan Boo Loo. Let me start with the landscaping, which transports you to a lush floral forest in Thailand. There are many varieties of flora and fauna throughout the property, along with various water features. At first, I was concerned that these areas might be breeding grounds for mosquitoes, but upon closer inspection, I noticed that there were minnows and guppies in the pots and pools that eat the larvae—how perfect!
The living area was stunning, decorated with just the right amount of Thai paintings and sculptures; it never felt cluttered or overwhelming. We didn’t have any issues with insects getting into the living space, and the air conditioning kept the rooms nice and cool for sleeping. There was also plenty of hot water available for long showers, and the rooms are equipped with a mini fridge and a tea kettle.
During our trip, we stayed at three different places in Thailand, but the breakfast at Baan Boo Loo was one of my favorite meals. My ten-year-old daughter even said, "I could eat this breakfast every day!" 😋 They serve traditional Thai breakfast, along with eggs, pastries, omelets, and waffles. Additionally, there was fresh local fruit and juice available in our room. The outside fridge was stocked with beer at reasonable prices.
As for the staff—though I hesitate to call them that because they make you feel like part of their family—they were truly wonderful. It was the most hospitable experience we’ve ever had at a hotel (a term that doesn’t quite capture the essence of Baan Boo Loo). On mornings when we had to leave early for excursions, they prepared a breakfast pack for us.
Baan Boo Loo truly felt like my home away from home. I can’t...
