Mamas kitchen — Restaurant in Karon

The food was not very good, I'll start with that. But what drops this to a one star is:

-They have different prices for locals vs foreigners. This is not speculation. The person working there confirmed this in English. -They cook the food differently for locals vs foreigners. This was the worst pad krapow I've ever had. No spice. Not much holy basil. Also they added bell peppers to it? So it was basically ground pork, rice, bell peppers, onions, and egg. Very disappointing. A proper pad krapow should have you feeling like you've been maced if you catch a whiff of it while it's cooking. Not the case. Meanwhile, you go anywhere else in Thailand and get the best pad krapow for 30 to 40 baht and without discrimination. -Look at how they respond to negative reviews. Not a good sign.

Mama, the lady that owns the restaurant and cooks is a very lovely Thai lady that cooks with her heart. She is very happy and is a very hardworking woman. Making sure our food is always very tasty and the portions are quite generous. Very cheap and good options.

There is also her husband that helps her run the restaurant and they are very attentive and friendly.

We ordered 1x Pad See Ew and 1x Tom Yum (I asked to make it spicy). Here is the outcome:

The Pad See Ew was super tasty and not spicy at all (European standard). If you cannot take any hot spices, order this dish!

The Tom Yum soup was super spicy (Thai standard). Well, I asked for it and I love hot spices anyway. But note that when you ask for a spicy dish, it may be complicated for many to eat.
