I remember the first time i visited this restaurant was around 5 years old. I was pretty impressed by the foods they served.
Fast forward 5 years later, I was looking for a Chinese restaurant for our company's team event and I immediately thought of Royal kitchen. Restaurant is situated in Nikko hotel, which is very easily accessible either by car of BTS skytrain.
Love the interiors with Chinese/Cantonese designs. Peking duck was very delicious, really like it. A few dish really stands out. My personal favorite is the steam fish. The fish used is very fresh. The technique of using soy sauce and ginger to steam the fish is so well done that the fish doesn't have overly fishy taste, and yet able to maintain the clean and firm meat texture. Really love it! the broccoli is another dish which i will give 5 stars as its not over or under cook and cooked just perfectly.
I would prefer the mapo tofu to be a little more spicy though but it still taste good. E-fu noodles taste delicious as well. But its a little too wet for my liking and the texture too chewy.
All in all, great restaurant serving sumptuous meals using top quality and fresh ingredients, great service from the team. Definitely recommend this to anyone who loves...
Read moreWith such great reviews, I had higher expectations. Instead the food was rather bland. Ma po tofu had zero numbing sensation, so it tasted inauthentic. Beijing duck was fine…not stellar. Definitely skip the spare ribs. I’ve had better at much cheaper restaurants…the meat was not soft and didn’t fall off the bone. Surprisingly, the star of the show was the chow fun. It had that wok hei taste, a little bit smokey and all around delicious. This is definitely a Cantones cuisine heavy restaurant. I’d say the menu offerings resemble that of a Chinese banquet with the fancy stuff: shark fin, abalone, lobster. I’m not that into the banquet fare, so this was a bit of a disappointment. More disappointing was the overall blandness. It’s almost as if they cater to Japanese taste more since it’s located in the Nikki Hotel in Thonglor. I know Japanese tends to like their food not as spicy or salty. Unfortunately, I was craving strong flavor and didn’t...
Read moreThe Chinese restaurant on the third floor of Hotel Nikko Thonglor. It's an old establishment famous for its Peking Duck, which used to be located opposite Thong Lo Soi 25. The Peking Duck is a bit oily, juicy, and delicious. They carve it right in front of you. We also tried other dishes like shark fin soup, deep fried shrimp with mayonnaise, stir-fried American scallops with broccoli, stir-fried egg noodle with roasted red pork, ginger and spring onion, poo pad pong curry, and rat na rice topped with chicken and crab meat, all of which were delicious. Each dish is crafted to appeal to a wide range of tastes. Dim sum is available only at lunchtime. There are two types of Shaoxing wine; the higher quality one is very smooth and tasty. The front area of the restaurant has bright lighting and a casual atmosphere, while the back area is more dimly lit and has a nicer ambiance. The private rooms are also impressive and seem suitable for...
