Truly some of the best food I have had in quite a while. I visited with my family recently while visiting Bangkok as it was near to our hotel and I would highly recommend this place if you enjoy good food, the highest quality ingredients and a seamless dining experience aided by attentive service and a friendly team! The place is perfect for having a night out and eating food that is going to be a treat for your senses. I got to try many different things while I was at Thaan and my whole experience was incredible! The progression of courses was amazing and well curated as the flow was uninterrupted and each dish complemented the dish that preceded it. The use of high quality ingredients was brilliant and the proper seasoning, preparation and serving size were just some of the factors that made me enjoy here even more! My favourites have to be the Beef Tongue and Hmong Chimichurri, Thai Wagyu Ribeye, the Fried Rice with Hanger Steak and the Creme Brûlée Crepe! The Beef tongue was just so incredibly tasty, moist and flavorful. It was hard to believe that I am chewing meat due to its nature that fell apart instantly. I have had many chimichurris over the years but this one was just a class apart. Spicy and perfectly balanced with the right amount of heat in it! The wagyu Ribeye melted in my mouth and if a steak is cooked well, you need little else to have with it. I absolutely loved it and the fact that they have an open kitchen concept where you can see how all the chefs can work in perfect harmony and synchrony with expert precision and finesse is another bonus! The Creme Brûlée crepe was also great and would’ve tasted even better if there was a bit less of the truffle on top but overall I was really pleased with it and the whole innovative approach! Special mention for Max who made sure our experience was smooth throughout the night as well as Executive Chef Nan whose skills and experience shines through each plate he puts on the table for the diners! This is michelin-level food that everyone should try if you live in Bangkok or are just planning...

The Oh My Supper was scrumptious. It also comes with garlic and chili in case ones need more of stronger touch. But I think if garlic was fried, it would be really great. The surprise was cheesecake. Hey, this classic one is delicious. Packed with flavour unlike those tasteless Japanese cheesecake. The berry sauce was not overwhelming also. Nice balance. Thaan is at least in my humble view a nice little grill house with true care. Not just a fancy place. Well done.
Gaja Sperss 1999 : No need to say much about this cult and famous one from Piedmont. Just pop one to try if you have them. It is drinking nicely now.
20May19: In my humble view, this is such a nice place. Nice people. Cool and relax atmosphere. Most of all, dishes are delicious. When talking about steak, it is usually expensive and yes some dishes in the menu here are expensive. But I would say they have their value though. There is a range of more friendly ingredients in the menu too and I would urge anyone not to judge just by the price of ingredients but skill of cooking team instead. So this time we tried their more approachable dishes and they turned out to be awesome. A particular attention would be the pork chop. Perfectly grilled to yield juicy and tender pork. And you know what, the chicken was packed with flavour too. When having your steak meal, don't forget to balance the diet with some vege though. Thaan's cabbage and lettuce dishes are...
Read moreGood food, terrible service.
I went yesterday with my wife, we arrived to an empty restaurant just after 6pm. We each ordered steaks and sides. My wife's was medium and mine medium rare.
Our waiter brought one steak even though we both clearly ordered steaks. My wife is Thai so there was no language issue. He said "people usually only order one steak"... despite us clearly ordering two different things. For a steak restauarant at this price point a waiter should at least expect two people eating together to potentially order a steak each and confirm the order.
No biggie, we both shared one steak while the other cooked, but here's where it went downhill.
We asked the waiter to confirm the rest of our order since the sides hadn't come yet.
Our sides didn't come until 7:30pm. Yes it took 70 minutes to get a FRIED RICE. I'm not even joking. I asked about it several times and was just told "coming".
My wife was tired, we had a toddler to get back to, and we took the food to-go.
This was a Wednesday during the pandemic, we were the second diners in the place.
For 12000 baht for dinner for 2 you'd be expecting more.
The food was pretty good. The fried rice was excellent for breakfast the next day, but for 1300baht a fried rice should turn somersaults. There were only 3 steaks on the menu, and only 6 marbling Australian wagyu (instead of the high end Japanese Wagyu they advertised which is far superior). One of the steaks was so-called "Thai Wagyu" which as everyone knows is Wagyu in name only.
I've eaten here several times and enjoyed it immensely. It's gone...
