My wife and I flew into Bangkok a bit late and had been eating dry food all dayâwe were craving something warm, flavorful, and satisfying. We looked up vegan spots nearby and found Mercy Republic. The name caught our attention, the reviews were solid, so we decided to check it out.
From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was chill and welcoming. R&B classics from the â70s to early 2000s were playingâtook me right back to my middle school dance days (I was born in 1988). A DJ in a white Yankees cap was in the corner, nodding along to the music, adding great energy to the space.
The staff were lovely. Our waiter said he was new and that his English wasnât very goodâbut honestly, we didnât notice any issues at all. His English was great, and he did a fantastic job making us feel comfortable and taken care of.
We started with the wild rocket salad with raspberry dressingâfresh, slightly sweet, and a nice start. Then we had the Panang Curry Rice and the Kao Soi Ramen. Both were delicious, rich, and had a really nice kick of spice. I love spicy food, so they were perfect for me. My wife, whoâs Russian and usually not into anything too spicy, even said, âOof, thatâs spicy!ââbut she still finished her dish and was totally happy with it.
One small note: both mains had a similar coconut curry base. I was expecting the ramen to be more of a clear, brothy style. Thatâs not a knock on the taste (everything was absolutely delicious), just not quite what I expected. Probably my own fault for not reading the menu more carefully. Iâm sure if I got to know the menu better, Iâd find exactly what I was looking for.
Overall, Mercy Republic is a fantastic vegan spot with great food, a cool vibe, and genuinely kind staff. Highly recommend it for a chill dinner, a casual date night, or just hanging out...
Read moreI came to Mercy Republic after reading strong reviews on HappyCow. It seemed like a high-quality vegan spot worth trying. When you arrive at the restaurant, thereâs a sign on the table saying youâll get free soyballs if you leave a review. However, they no longer serve them â instead, I was given French fries. Not exactly a fair trade.
I ordered the tofu with pork because it was recommended. The tofu was completely bland â just plain deep-fried with no seasoning. The pork was tasty, but to enjoy the dish, you really have to slice and eat both together in every bite. On its own, the tofu didnât hold up.
The barbecue beef skewers were the highlight â flavorful and generously portioned with five skewers. Great for sharing, though a bit much for one person.
I also tried the garlic naan. I initially sent it back because it didnât look like the photo (no garnish). When it was remade, the naan was nicely baked with a slightly salty taste â but there was absolutely no garlic flavor. It just tasted like plain naan.
The sticky rice tasted like what youâd expect â plain sticky rice â but the sauce it came with was bland, which made the overall dish feel boring.
I ordered the first pink mocktail on the menu â it tasted like boxed fruit punch. Not worth it.
On top of that, the environment was very loud due to the music, and the place was hard to find â itâs tucked away down a side street, not on the main road. At first, I even thought it was closed.
Would I come back? Personally, no. The overall experience didnât match the reviews, and I left feeling disappointed.
Want to add I wasn't informed that there were no soy bars until I asked, by which time I was served French fries. I didn't get any mayonnaise.
Service charge was removed by request.

Mercy Bangkok is not your average cocktail bar â itâs a fully vegan, hip-hop-inspired social space built around four powerful pillars: animals, people, environment, and health. And it delivers on all four with authenticity and style.
The vibe is instantly unique: cool beats, low lighting, and a striking wall filled with photos of iconic music artists who are proudly vegan. It's more than dĂ©cor â itâs a tribute to a movement, creating a space where music, ethics, and lifestyle align.
We dropped in for some cocktails and bar snacks, and both were top-notch. The fish cakes were flavorful and satisfying, with a great texture â hard to believe they were 100% plant-based. The onion rings were crispy and golden, served hot and perfectly seasoned. Itâs clear they care about making vegan food exciting and craveable, even in small bites.
The cocktails were beautifully balanced, with bold flavors and a creative touch. You can tell thereâs intention behind the mixology â aligning with Mercyâs focus on health and quality, without compromising on fun.
Staff were welcoming, knowledgeable, and happy to explain the concept. It felt like being part of a community, not just a customer.
Mercy is a refreshing and much-needed addition to Bangkokâs nightlife â a place where great music, conscious living, and creative food & drink come together. Whether you're vegan or just curious, itâs well...
