Jane and I had a fabulous evening at The Melting Clock tonight! Fiorentino, our friendly host has created a very eclectic and memorable venue. In fact our entire evening was very memorable. We wandered down the slightly dark street searching for this acclaimed bar/restaurant and were about to double check Google Maps when a helpful staff member greeted us and confirmed we had found our destination. The waiter settled us on a large table and we were quickly presented with a cocktail list, a huge list of beers and wines, whiskeys and of course the menu of Italian and Thai inspired dishes. We chose a refreshing mojito to freshen up. The menu has a list of creative starters, so we chose the chicken croquettes and the grilled pork with Thai salad. I also could not resist ordering a pasta dish. To be honest we thought we would order at least one more dish later, but as soon as the “snacks/appetisers” came out we realised our eyes were bigger than our bellies. The generous serve of savoury chicken needed no condiments and the succulent charcoal grilled pork neck was so full of flavour that we barely touched the spicy dipping sauce. The talented Jazz band was enjoyable and really made the night. Jane was so enamoured overall by the music and hospitality, I’m sure she very nearly shed tears! We wanted red wine...boy what a choice. The wine is listed by price and noted by region and winery. With such a large overwhelming international list of wines and unfamiliar labels, I would have liked to know the variety or blends to help me choose. Fiorentino helped us choose a delightful bottle - first by our modest budget and then our preference for dry full bodied wine. The bespoke art and collected vintage decorations really added to the surrealist theme. Every nook and cranny oozes considered art - it just works. It cannot be described, it must be experienced. To round off the evening, we treated ourselves to a single malt scotch - Jane homed in on her staple Smokey Laphroaig and I entrusted Fiorentino to select a milder scotch for me. The band finished their performance and we enjoyed a chat and a complimentary limoncello or 2 with Fiorentino, already our fav host in Bangkok! A beautiful night out. We are going back next Wednesday for sure. Do yourself a favour, check it out. Our total spend was B3700...
Read moreI found this restaurant online prior to taking our trip and the pictures/description sold me. I am thrilled to say after waiting 5 months, it did not disappoint, in fact it blew us away! Tucked away on a side street in Bangkok’s Watthana District, this Italian restaurant quickly became the highlight of our vacation meals. Upon entering You definitely feel as if you’ve stepped into a hip European speakeasy. The decor is so fun, detailed and unique. The atmosphere takes you back to a 1930/40s feel including the bold red colors, bottom lit bar, retro couches/chairs, and rich jazz music. Our server was friendly, quick to greet us and very careful regarding my nut allergy. We opted for a bold Red Cabernet (as I learned good wine is hard to find and comes at a premium in Bangkok!) and a fun Cocktail to start as well as the scallop appetizer. We weren't ready to order meals as we wanted to relax and savor our drinks and starter. They were very understanding of this, did not rush us and even allowed us access to the Wine vault to take photos. For meals we split the pepperoni pizza and the duck dinner plate. The pizza was well cooked and flavorful with fresh basil and buffalo mozzarella. The duck was tender, and served with caramelized onions, tomatoes and olives in a slightly sweet rosemary sauce. We were stunned when; to finish our meal, the staff surprised us with Tiramisu! My absolute favorite dessert. It was creamy, and had a distinct coffee, chocolate taste but was not overly sweet. If I could air lift this restaurant and bring it back to Charlotte I absolutely would and I would dine there weekly. It is a must visit when you...
Read moreMy wife and I stumbled upon this charming Italian restaurant in Bangkok on the second-to-last day of our honeymoon, and it turned out to be one of the most memorable experiences of our entire trip.
Being far from home and feeling a bit homesick, we were instantly comforted the moment we walked through the door. The warm, cozy ambience paired with the soft, nostalgic hum of jazz music created an atmosphere that felt like a warm hug. It was like being transported straight into a family-run trattoria in the heart of eataly.
The pasta—oh, the pasta! Handmade, perfectly al dente, and bursting with flavor in every bite. Each dish we tried was a reminder of the richness and soul of Italian cooking. It wasn’t just food; it was a full-on emotional experience.
What made the night even more special was meeting Fiorentino, the owner. After our meal, he approached us with the kindest gesture—a complimentary drink to celebrate our honeymoon. What followed was an incredibly warm and heartfelt conversation. Fiorentino didn’t just make us feel welcome—he made us feel like family.
This restaurant didn’t just satisfy our cravings; it lifted our spirits. For anyone looking for authentic Italian food with soul, and a place where hospitality is served just as generously as the wine, this spot is an absolute must.
Grazie, Fiorentino—you gave us a beautiful memory we’ll always...
