Didn’t want to come off as rude but had to post a review because of my disappointment. Walked in and was seated, ordered a set including a tea and told the person that I would like to have the creme caramel tea but was told that it is not included as part of the set given that it was more than 320baht. She then told me to order something else and I opted for the ace of hearts but was told it was finished. Then i opted for the good hope tea, but was told that they were out of it too. It’s okay, she then suggested the five o clock tea which I agreed upon anyways.
A pot of tea was served including the pastries I requested for. To my horror, another pot of tea was served and I was very confused. Why would I order two teas for myself? I assumed it was part of the package after clarifying the teas and was surprised I was still served the creme caramel tea. Was really surprised when I wanted to pay and was charged as such.
Service wise it was ok. So so. Had to ask for sugar and milk myself while other tables were dressed accordingly. Knowledge of the teas were lacking too. Pastries were subpar. Very disappointed with my experience given the premium pricing. Wish I could express my concern earlier but didn’t want to...
Read moreThis is a nice place for a cup of tea and some light food fair, but as been said before it is very expensive. I chose a service that included tea, 5 small sandwiches, two scones and three macaroons. The scones were very small? The sandwiches were tasty as were the scones and the macaroons. When I received the bill I was a little bit surprised as instead of the package price, they charged me for the sandwiches, scones and macaroons separately from the tea. They also added a 10% service fee (I was there alone) and VAT tax. So the bill actually came out to be significantly more than I was anticipating based on the prices in their menu. I would also say that service was very slow. After being seated it took them at least 10 minutes before they came by to ask if I was ready to order.
I guess the bottom line to me is that while this was a nice experience I think that better can be found in other places around Bangkok. You can certainly get a better deal and probably better service and food in...
Read moreMy second time at TWG in Emporium and I think it was a bit meh for afternoon tea. Don't get me wrong, it was a decent experience but I did not think the staff were overly eager to assist - and, though they were polite when approached, I didn't love the service. Food was okay - the macarons, in particular, were great. Tea could have been free flow but it was not. Other than that, I would still prefer the Maa-Lai Library or Divana Signature Cafe. The St. Regis is also pretty decent for afternoon tea, to be fair.
Edit: third time was even worse. Now there are lots of conditions and no flexibility even when it doesn't cost them anything. Dirty tablecloths, no presenting what the different items are, etc. You'd expect more from a company trying to pretend it was founded in the 1800s and giving off a pretentious...
