I hadn’t had a basic American breakfast in a while so I thought I’d visit this place.
You walk into the building and you’re in a somewhat dark room. If you look confused for more than 2 seconds a gentleman will direct you to head up the stairs to the 2nd floor where it brightens up a lot.
The space is large and reminds me a bit of the breakfast diners back home. I arrived late-morning. I’d say the place was about half-full so it was easy to grab a seat.
I needed coffee badly and got the bottomless cup of Joe. You walk up and pour the brewed coffee yourself. Felt like home.
I enjoyed the carrot, orange, pineapple juice a lot.
I got an omelette for breakfast. It felt like a good deal because it was packed with meat. I got it with goat cheese, bacon, tomato and mushroom but it just felt like something was missing. In retrospect, I feel like I should have ordered it with everything instead of limiting to just those ingredients, but I thought I was being smart and balancing it well.
I think the omelette itself is made thai style because I could smell fish sauce (which is fine), but the flavor was pretty much dominated by the other ingredients.
The omelette came with potatoes, fruit and toast. The potatoes were great actually. I’ve been dipping my breakfast potatoes in ketchup mixed with tobacco, pepper and a little salt since I was a kid so it was nice that all of those ingredients were at the table. The toast was good but could have used some butter.
I’m basing my food rating on the omelette since coffee and juice are simple. It was good. I’ll go back and try the omelette again with all of the ingredients and see if I can rate it a 5 instead of a 4. Maybe I’ll try some other stuff there too.
Overall, I was happy with breakfast and will probably go there frequently. The portions are large. The staff was great and the space was warm and familiar as...
Read moreBreakfast Story Asok earns a solid 4-star rating, offering a pleasant dining experience in Bangkok with a few notable strengths and some room for improvement.
The cafe's location is described as "nice," suggesting an appealing and comfortable setting for patrons to enjoy their meals. This could refer to the interior decor, the outdoor seating area, or its position within the Asok neighborhood, which is known for its vibrant atmosphere and convenient access.
One of the standout features of Breakfast Story Asok is its friendly staff. The personnel's warm and welcoming attitude contributes significantly to creating a positive dining atmosphere, making guests feel comfortable and well-cared for during their visit.
When it comes to the food, the review indicates that it's "good, but not a highlight." This suggests that while the dishes are satisfactory and enjoyable, they may lack the wow factor that would elevate the cafe to a must-visit culinary destination. The meals are likely tasty and well-prepared, meeting expectations without necessarily exceeding them.
The 4-star rating reflects a balance between the cafe's strengths (nice location and friendly staff) and the somewhat standard quality of the food. It indicates that Breakfast Story Asok provides a reliable and pleasant option for breakfast or brunch in the area, even if it doesn't offer a particularly exceptional culinary experience.
For those in the Asok area looking for a comfortable spot with good food and friendly service, Breakfast Story appears to be a solid choice. While it may not be a gastronomic revelation, it offers a dependable and enjoyable dining option in a pleasant...
Read moreOrdered a 3 eggs omelette and I found a stapler nail inside my food. After complaining to the staff they dare to still charge me money for this.
OK since I cannot reply directly to the owner, I would like to edit my comment here just so we are aligned on what’s fair here.
I didn’t take your replacement meal, I actually asked for the bill which I think the default answer, if properly trained in F&B is to waive it immediately after your customer almost swallowed a nail from your restaurant. But crying here trying to justify what’s fair shows the lack of actual hospitality training especially coming from the owner. Hope you continue to offer great service and again, it’s not my first time visiting this branch. You need a new SOPs in customer complaint and people at cashier should know and have the right to resolve issues on spot. Finally to give you an honest feedback as to why I agreed on spot to your 50% off staff discount: I am glad I didn’t swallow it and spit it out so I didnt have to go to hospital and I can leave the place in one piece They didn’t give me an option to “not pay”. Which I think it’s pretty standard? I didn’t want to be the guy who starts arguing with your cashier why I still have to give 50% even though I had 25% of the food. A replacement meal after the first experience? I mean.. come on..
And let’s maybe call it here I think it may just be a one time thing but what’s more disappointing than your stapler nail is the owners attitude towards protection against reviews rather than changing your SOP and do some proper training on...
