Masala Express - Sukhukmvit 20 — Restaurant in Khlong Toei Subdistrict

I arrived a bit late into Bangkok from the provinces and after checking into my hotel, I decided to try Masala Express on Soi Si Bhamphen.

Entering the restaurant at approximately 9:30 pm, I received a friendly greeting. I selected indoor seating. I noticed I was the only customer. The seating arrangement and decore is attractive.

Masala Express has an interesting menu. Indian, Thai, Italian and "Indo - Chinese" dishes are on offer.

I selected Chicken Malai cooked in the tandoor oven, Dal Makhni and a cottage cheese spinach curry along with some garlic naan and Tandoori Roti (butter version). The food ingredients tasted and appeared fresh, but the garlic naan, although delicious, was a bit oily. I washed everything down with a bottle of Federbrau as the restaurant was sold out of Heinneken and Singha.

Prices are above average here in my opinion, but the food is fine and the service is polite and attentive. They can bring your food out from the kitchen dish by dish or all at once.

I recommend visiting Masala Express in a small group and taking advantage of ordering a wide variety of dishes while spreading the cost among your party.

The service and food was nothing shy from amazing. Very clean restaurant and the chef does not hold back from bringing out amazing food. This restaurant is known for their Indian food, all of which is made from scratch however their take on local thai food is also impecable. I always have the Tom Yam soup and it's perfectly seasoned. The ingredients are at it's true display. Restaurant is quiet do to it's hidden location but only minutes away from the Lumphini station. I think only those staying near by find this hidden gem. They offer Halal Indian menu as well for those whose diets require. Restaurant has outdoor and indoor seating with a full abiance. I did not like this place. Probably it was a bad day. Firstly they have served Thai Pad with meat instead of seafood, but included the seafood (which is more expensive) in the bill. Secondly they forgot my dessert and I had to wait for it for a long time. And finally they silently included 10% service in the bill.
