My wife & I first came to Bangkok in 1991, and we have spent well over 200 nights in "The City of Angels" since then.
During our four trips to Bangkok between December 2021 and July 2024 (80 nights, with seven more to go this trip), we I have dined at No Idea a total of eleven times, as it's become our All Time Favourite Bangkok Restaurant.
No Idea has moved from Soi 22 to Soi 18, and the new premises are outstanding, a huge improvement over the “old” No Idea, offering a modern, light, and spacious atmosphere.
Anne and John usually serve my wife & me, and their quality of service is consistently good, being warm, welcoming, friendly, and attentive, without being intrusive. Other team members also serve us occasionally, and each one provides us with service that is as good as that provided by Anne and John.
The food, prepared with the freshest ingredients by talented chef/owner Khun Ant, is as good as ever, and the portion sizes are always generous.
My wife’s & my favorite dishes are the rocket salad; stuffed zucchini flowers; fresh market fish (grouper and tuna in particular, when available); salmon cooked in parchment; confit duck; and twice-cooked crispy pork belly (which almost melts in your mouth).
The wine list is extraordinarily impressive, boasting a wide selection from numerous countries, and with a surprising number of the wines being available by the glass.
Never have we seen a wine list which offers such affordable, and value for money prices anywhere else in Asia.
My wife & I unreservedly recommend No Idea Gastropub to anyone seeking a fantastic meal and exceptional value for money dining experience in Bangkok.
Thank you Dave, Khun Ant, Anne, John, and to the entire team at No Idea for delivering a consistently EXCELLENT dining experience to Margaret &...
Read morePlease treat your customers equally - I can compare the service from this and another day. When I come here with older friends/colleagues, everyone is welcoming us and being super attentive the whole evening. Once I come here just with friends at my age (middle/end of 20) - the staff is almost ignoring us and makes the impression to be almost annoyed when we want to order.
I made a reservation via phone, got a table downstairs confirmed, but upon arrival nobody knew about my reservation. No apologies what so ever. We were asked if we can move upstairs to a table, which I declined as I asked especially for a table downstairs. We were seated at a bar/high table downstairs (dressed appropriately). Menu was handed out, after ordering the appetizer, the menu was taken away, as if we are only able to afford the appetizer. I noticed that a table got free downstairs, after waiting for a few minutes as none of the staff came over to offer us this table, I had to ask if we can move there - Oh yes sure. Why don't you keep your guests updated and try to solve the issue proactively!? One of my friends arrived later. I told the staff about this. Even though she hadn't arrived yet, no cutlery was placed. After she had arrived, taken a seat, I had to ask for cutlery and the menu.
If you are not sitting in the prime-table-areas, the Aircons are freezing you.
The food was awesome as always. Amazing steak, bruschetta and lava cake!

Read moreGreat food and attentive service
I came here twice, over the last three evenings The first time ever on Sunday, I came alone, but ran into a friend. And last night I was here with a date. Both times the food and service was very good I must say Sunday night was more enjoyable experience because of the table I was at. I sat at one of the cushion seats against the wall, facing out in the main upstairs bar area Last night they originally put us away in the back of the downstairs area against the wall… Which would be fine if you want, quiet, private, and secluded… But we were hoping for a little more liveliness . After a wait, they said a table would be available upstairs so we did move, but that was not a very comfortable place, as it was in the center of the room with lots of movement all around us and their air-conditioning blowing directly on us.. so if making a reservation, I would avoid table seven Both evenings the food was very good and so was the service. I had the lamb shank on Sunday, which I would definitely recommend. Last night I had the braised beef, which was excellent. My date had salmon, which was poached, I believe… But as requested, she asked them to spice it up… And they did. She was very happy with the result. They seem to have an extensive wine list, lots of whiskeys and gins… And a good range of cocktails for you to enjoy I would recommend this very nice nice place, which is on relatively quiet soi 18 Just don’t get stuck at the...
