Food I ordered the grilled chicken salad. I was impressed by the presentation of it. They added a lot besides lettuce - great taste. Despite the restaurant name, there are a lot of food options beyond traditional breakfasts. The iced americano was okay, though I'd suggest that the restaurant make the coffee stronger.
Staff The staff running the restaurant had warm, friendly attitudes, which adds a lot to the dining experience. The two women there were polite, used English very well and could understand my order with ease. They accommodated my particular order requests.
Atmosphere The Wi-Fi was reliable and fast. I noticed a couple of people chilling out with their laptops. The music playing in the restaurant was Red Hot Chili Peppers. The air con was kept nice and cool, but not cold. I liked the setup of seating - while the restaurant was busy, it didn't feel cramped or congested at all. Nice table arrangement. The lighting and interior design works well.
Prices The prices seem quite reasonable for the food quality and quantity given.
Location It's a very short walk from the BTS. Breakfast Story is on the second floor of a shopping complex, but the stairs are not directly beneath the restaurant, so I'd imagine that I'm not the only one to be perplexed for about twenty seconds as I tried to figure it out. The stairs are located about 20 meters or so away next to another restaurant called La Monita. There seemed to be enough parking for those who drive there.
Overall I'd definitely return to this place. The menu has a great variety of options and an interesting theme - very well-written. I saw some of the food at other tables and suspect that it's hard to go wrong with the menu. This, along with the relaxed atmosphere due to friendly staff, nice air control, and comfortable seating, make Breakfast Story well...
Read moreOn my plight to find the best breakfast in #smilingBKK I stumbled upon Breakfast Story in Sukhumvit where I must have been 5 times, alone, with friends and with Family. Busy over there? Every time packed. That’s the sign of a good restaurant. Well....if you are reading this while waiting for a table. Get over to the new Phloen Chit branch!!! This is the most important second opening in the Bangkok breakfast scene! Why? Because I like to pick my own mug from the cupboard. I like the THB 80 filtered coffee and the fact I can feed my family of 4 for less than THB 1500 for breakfast? Free cold water which I love. Again in misplaced glasses that have found their way all the way up the stairs next to La Monita. The food? Outstanding. Wife had some granola. #SummerGranola to be specific. Me the pancake stack. Four ma-housive cakes, fluffy with great Canadian maple which I haven’t seen since the #drip maple boutique produce. Kids shared the breakfast story, three pancakes and a fry up. Huge portion. Decor is quirky and disjointed with touches of class. Nice little #Sonos sound system sitting up there in the corner busting out this morning, Radiohead, Oasis, Duran Duran and to start the experience a bit of Meatloaf and then Kim Carnes. Bette Davis Eyes to really get the party started. There is no pressure to move on. No eyes that say ‘we need your table’. Kids are reading comics and wife a cookbook that’s just kicking about. As I finish, TLC’s waterfalls is playing. Can’t fault this place. Love it. Thanks ‘Breakfast Story Phloen Chit’ for getting the story right - happy ending and full...
Read moreI recently visited Breakfast Story Phloen Chit in Bangkok, and I must say my experience was far from satisfactory. Here’s a breakdown of what I found:
Average Food Quality: The breakfast options, including pancakes, scrambled eggs, bacon, roasted potatoes, and mixed fruit, were just average. There was nothing particularly special or unique about the flavors or presentation.
Overpriced Menu Items: The prices are quite high, especially for budget travelers. For example, an espresso costs 100 THB and a simple glass of orange juice is priced at 150 THB. This is way too expensive for what you get.
Hidden Charges: To top it off, they add a service charge (10%) and VAT (7%) to your bill without prior notice. This significantly increases the total cost, making it even more overrated. For instance, my total bill came to 643.50 THB (18,09€ ) after these additional charges.
Tourist Trap: The place seems to be more focused on attracting tourists rather than providing value for money. As a budget traveler, this was quite disappointing. I felt like I was being scammed with the high prices for average food.
Overall, I would not recommend Breakfast Story Phloen Chit to fellow budget travelers. The food is average, and the prices are overrated. Instead, explore other local eateries that offer better value for...
