La Monita Taqueria — Restaurant in Lumphini Subdistrict

I am from California where we have some of the best Mexican food on the planet and when I found this place I was a bit hesitant to say the least. However, they do a pretty good job here. When I came here in May I had a plate that container beans and I must admit they were the worst beans I have ever had. They had a harsh almost chemical taste like the fuel they use to cook or oil or something had somehow permeated the beans. Everything else was great! A few months later I find myself wanting some horchata and I find myself back here once more. I decide to eat, not ordering beans this time, and once again the food was really good. The lengua tacos are excellent, the horchata hits the spot, the pescado y camarones tacos are really good. I can’t complain at all. Oh the guac and chips definitely worth while, had to add some salt to the chips but that’s no problem and they offer Corona buckets with limes (again I had to add the salt to that myself no trouble) Only thing that would have made my experience better is the churros being full sized or maybe offering churros with filling. The churros they offer are like mini sized. They come as a set of 6 and they are about the size of a boba straw and half the length of a normal sized churro. They were out of tres leches or I would have tried that.

Overall I like this place decently well. Maybe the beans issue has been resolved 🤷🏻‍♂️ but I wasn’t up to trying them to find out after my first experience with them. Everything else was great! I’d recommend if you want some Mexican food while...

Oh boy, let me tell ya, I stumbled into this place called La Monita in Ploenchit, Bangkok, and wow, it's like a treasure chest full of flavors! Conveniently close to a BTS station, so even if you've had one too many margaritas, getting there is a breeze.

So I start with this Chorizo Queso Fundido, right? It's like a party in my mouth! Dough, minced pork, and cheese - an unusual trio that had me going, "Hmm, that's different," but hey, it was a fun ride at 320 Baht a pop.

Then came the Mexican Tacos for 250 Baht. Fish, shrimp, steak, all in one plate. I mean, who doesn't love a good taco party? They were like the loyal friends you call up at 2 AM - reliable, comforting, and always there for yo.

Next, I tried the Steak Quesadilla, setting me back 290 Baht. Now, I've had my fair share of quesadillas, and this one held its ground. It wasn't trying to be all fancy and different, just good old, dependable quesadilla.

The service? Spot on. I'd give it a solid 4 out of 5. And value for money? Well, I was feeling pretty generous after all those margaritas, so let's call it a 2 out of 5. But who cares about money when you're having a good time, right.

So, all in all, La Monita was a wild ride. Good food, good service, good times. I'd go there again in a heartbeat. Heck, I'd give it a 10 out of 10, 'cause why not? Life's too short for...

My dear friend Evy &. Decided to head to a good Mexican place in Center oh Bangkok and we chose La Monita!!

I had never been here before but my friend had and she highly recommended it so I thought hey let’s try it out so we decided to head there and while we were there halfway in between it started raining and pouring so hard of course it’s rainy season in Bangkok right now so anyway nonetheless we enjoyed our dinner thoroughly as we were in no hurry to leave!

So I ordered the wet burrito and we both decided to share that and I also ordered nachos and salsa and the three sauces that you see in the photos come complementary and they are spectacular super super spicy to mild and I love the super spicy and so does my friend Evy!!

It was a great evening I will most certainly recommend this place the prices are also quite reasonable and the service was good considering how packed it got and the space is quite small but it’s got a fun ambiance and a vibrancy to this place so I would highly recommend it for Mexican in Bangkok!!
