Tucked away in a small alley near Bangkok’s Erawan Shrine, 天下第一猪手饭 boldly declares itself “The Best Pork Leg Rice Under Heaven” — and it just might live up to the name. This humble, no-frills eatery draws long lines daily, thanks to its perfectly braised pork leg served over fluffy jasmine rice. The meat is tender and flavorful, with a gelatinous skin that melts in your mouth. It comes with pickled mustard greens, a half-boiled egg, and a rich, savory sauce that ties it all together.
The signature set includes a bowl of bitter melon pork rib soup — a surprisingly light and refreshing counterbalance to the richness of the main dish. Other standouts include the braised tofu and pork intestines with pickled vegetables, showcasing the shop’s mastery of traditional Chinese-Thai comfort food.
Don’t expect air conditioning or fancy plating; plastic tables and open-air seating are part of the charm. Prices are very reasonable, with most sets around 150 THB. It’s not just a meal — it’s a cultural experience. If you're hunting for authentic local flavors away from the tourist traps, this spot is well...

This my 3rd time here but I felt the food quality standard dropped and service not friendly. Overall food still not greasy.
We arrived at the store and took a seats. We order what we want but when I asked about the drinks option, the boss seems to only push fresh coconut only without saying the price. My friend was turn off as they quite reluctant to provide options clearly with price, seem abit fishy even though their dish wasn't cheap (from 150baht) for local standard
We saw one other customer ordered 'Ice' and empty cup and they used for the jug of tea that was already place on each table for their drinks. I guess it's free but just sharing here for reference if anyone wanna try.
I think I won't go back again as the standard dropped and many good food in bkk. Its not worth the time to travel all the way there unless you are just...
Read moreThe big sign in Chinese says : Thailand #1 Pork Knuckle Rice. It’s probably catered for the Chinese tourists recently too but nevertheless this old fashioned shop front definitely served some delicious home taste pork knuckle stewed Offals rice that hit the spot for us. The extra serve of pickled vegetables enhanced the whole experience, and our extra order of crispy Bbq pork also went down a trick. The male manager was polite and speak Mandarin. He even offered us a side table just to put all our bags and shopping so we have enough elbow and leg room around the table. A lovely and considerate touch. The portion size is good while the place was not too packed during our late lunch hour arrival. The soup was also flavoursome.
It’s located on a side street, and our verdict was a good one based on taste alone! The prize is also very reasonable too as an...
