I arrived at the hotel, walking from the airport train (a ten-minute walk away if you walk briskly), to find the grand lobby calm and peaceful, but very heavily scented with some room fragrance. Was the purpose of that to conceal something? Strange. But the friendly receptionist spoke good English and checked me in quickly. I got my room right away at 1.30 pm.||My room on the 17th floor felt like travelling back in time to 1988 when the hotel first opened its doors. They might have painted a little here and there, and changed the flooring, but other than that, everything was still in its original condition, accompanied by a musty, damp odour. Nothing was broken and the room felt clean but definitely outdated. It was also rather small for the four stars that the hotel claims – three would be closer to the truth in 2025.||The bed was a bit on the hard side but I slept well nevertheless. Needless to say, there were no sockets by the bed – who needed those in 1988? They had added two multi-sockets (US/UK/Europe) to the desk, but those had already become so loose that my laptop charger kept falling out of the socket. The room came with a desk, chair, armchair, luggage rack, fridge, safe, two 0.5 L water bottles replenished daily and A/C that did not cool down the room more than to 24 degrees. Wifi was easy to use, fast and reliable. I see many reviewers complaining about the wifi, but I had no problems with it.||The bathroom was equally outdated, but came with a bathtub that filled quickly. The wall-mounted shower had excellent water pressure. No handheld shower available. Amenities included shampoo, shower gel and body lotion in single-use bottles, which I find a lot more hygienic than the wall-mounted containers some hotels choose to put on their walls to save money. Slippers were also provided.||A buffet breakfast was served in the lobby restaurant from 6 to 10:30, the cost was 400 THB, but I did not try it. The restaurant also served lunch.||The swimming pool (7 am to 7 pm) on the 4th floor was small, cold and uninviting. Do not choose this hotel if you want to enjoy a swim.||The location is great for shopping (Centralworld and Gaysorn Centre next to the hotel) and for public transport (skytrain, water buses and the airport train all close by).||I paid 76 EUR/night for what I consider a three-star hotel. Would I stay again? Probably not. There are better options close by that offer the same level of comfort...

Read moreThis was a poor experience overall. I arrived to find that the room temp was set to 27C and the thermostat did not work. A technician came and messed with the air conditioning compressor before it would run a little cooler. The phones in both rooms did not work so there was no way to contact reception without going there physically. Breakfast was adequate featuring the usual eggs and toast (substandard bread considering they have their own bakery). Water pressure in Room 1902 was dismal. I booked 1901 and 1902. The Tv channels are all locked out save for a plethora of Thai channels, so brush up on your Thai. I recommend watching Thairath since they routine post tiktok videos that are amusing and self-explanatory. The only English channels were two Evangelical ones (I give up). Worse yet, the entire hotel apparently had only 1 iron and ironing board making the rounds and we could barely secure it. I’ve never stayed in a hotel room without an iron. That’s how I rate a good hotel for starters. When I asked housekeeping for the iron, they said it would take all day before we could get it. So if you’re here for work, like me, please expect to turn up to your meetings looking like you’ve been in an accident. Pool is good. Location is good excepting that you will be faced with traffic going in or out because of the fact. You will pay a premium since cab and tuktuks don’t want to be stuck in traffic here. You could easily waste away a half hour every 100m you travel. My first stay here, and also my last. Too many other options around and not enough to bring me back here as a loyal customer. Probs only deserves a 0.5 star for having room...
