Rating this place was tough, because it's almost a three, but not quite. The restaurant is very clean, and they have a small section with desserts. It's great for families and they have a good menu selection. Me and my husband came in famished, and wanted pizza and garlic bread. The bread looked more like a tortilla and had no garlic flavor to it; the pizza was very small, especially for the price. I don't have an extraordinary appetite, but the pizzas were big enough for only one person, however as much as it cost, we weren't about to buy a second one. I love thin crust pizza, but tortilla chips are thicker than the crust we had. Many restaurants in Thailand offer drinking water for free, but I think it's more common at local establishments. In higher priced tourist areas, they just want to sell you expensive drinks. As far as the food, perhaps some of the other options on the menu are a better choice, but I'm basing this review on what we ate. After we finished, we were still hungry, so that was frustrating. One good thing is that at the end of our meal, they gave us a couple slices of watermelon and two small bananas. Come in and try for yourself. Maybe you'll have...
Read moreThe Cook is one of a multitude of restaurants and cafés in Phuket's heritage district, centered around Ratsada, Thalang and Dibuk Road. I wanted to check it out, as it'd been listed in The Lonely Planet some years back. Since I'm a vegetarian, the only thing I could spot was a caesar's salad, a vegetable pizza and pineapple fried rice. Since the first two are not vegan(egg and cheese), I ordered pineapple fried rice for lunch. The helping was small and left me hungry, though it was delicious and well made, with cashews and chunks of pineapple. The Cook's best days are behind it. It'll have to try harder to stand out in Phuket Old Town. Every year, brash new eateries with great aesthetics and design enter the hospitality scene, making the dining scene here ruthlessly...
Read moreI LOVED this place bc the club salad was loaded w goodies - chicken, ham, cheese, egg, onion, tomato, cucumber, etc - and it was delicious. My boyfriend loved his fried rice (and the fried noodles that came later lol). It's nice and clean, and I'm glad we decided to come in even though it looks kinda like a generic cafe restaurant. I'm hesitant to knock off a star, but I feel like it's totally possible that some of the dishes might be underwhelming, and that it just depends what you order. If you're craving a salad though,...
