Nestled between the bustling Sathorn and Silom roads, Baan Chiang offers a serene dining experience in a charming traditional Thai wooden house. The ambiance is both cozy and authentic, providing a peaceful retreat from the city’s hustle and bustle.
Ambiance: The restaurant features both indoor seating within the historic house and an inviting outdoor courtyard. We opted for the courtyard, which was delightful and added to the overall charm of the evening.
Service: The staff were attentive, friendly, and efficient, embodying the warmth of Thai hospitality.
Food: We began with the spicy green papaya salad with dried shrimp and deep-fried minced pork on toast accompanied by cucumber and peanut sauce. The salad was refreshingly spicy without being overwhelming, and the pork toasts were flavourful and satisfying.
For our main courses, we enjoyed stir-fried prawns with garlic and white pepper, crispy tofu stir-fried with cashew nuts and roasted chilli paste, and a rich red curry with roast duck. Each dish was well-prepared, showcasing authentic Thai flavours and presented beautifully.
Overall Experience: Our return to Baan Chiang after several years was a pleasant experience. The combination of authentic cuisine, charming ambiance, and excellent service makes it a noteworthy dining destination in Bangkok.
If you’re seeking a genuine Thai dining experience in a tranquil setting, Baan Chiang is certainly worth a visit.

Read morePrices and service are excellent both inside and outside seating available and comfortable in both. Nice place to enjoy quiet and relax atmosphere with friends. If you get stuck with a family where the parentings skills are no better than both parents being online while the kids are running hammock please do this world a favour and have the conversation with the parents and point them towards the nearest McDonald which is incidentally not far and more suitable to their skill level in parenting. Happening more and more that parent feels to take a break bringing their kids and letting the staff do the parenting. It is dangerous hot meals and liquids are being delivered to tables. Kids have to be seated in their chair and looked after by the parents. There I said it. Lets wait for all the hate response from parents who think their offspring can do not wrong. Lets talk again in an emergency room when one of these offspring is being treated for 3rd degrees burns because they will blame the waiter no doubt. I will put this fair and square on the the parents shoulders where it...
Read moreAbsolutely a disappointment. The food is far too bland and americanized (and the spring rolls were a greasy disaster). It was obvious that they cut corners and pinched pennies by utilizing subpar and incorrect ingredients. Furthermore, they can't seem to keep the kitchen properly stocked since half-a-dozen menu items or more were marked as "out of stock" the night we went. The service was timid, tepid, and almost seemed even scared. This place feels like an expat thought they could make a buck by opening a restaurant in an upscale area of Bangkok, but your palate is the victim of their incompetence and frugality. New management could turn the entire problem around. The only redeeming quality of this place (and the only reason it earns 2 stars rather than 1) is its attractive atmosphere in a beautiful old Thai house, which are so rare in Bangkok today. (However, they did have a tacky playlist on repeat, and the same song played at least three times in under and hour.) Don't bother eating here when there are so many better places to...
