My husband and I had simply a WONDERFUL time at the Sky Bar this past Wednesday evening!! After reading several reviews & looking at the website for information we understood it was Expensive as most of Bangkok’s rooftops are. We are so Glad we DID NOT listen to the negative reviews because we Only experienced staff that were so kind to assist us in having the BEST experience and we did!! We were there to have a few cocktails which were delicious and be at this stunning venue. We were awestruck is the only word I can think of to these BEAUTIFUL Bangkok Views!! Upon arrival we were kindly & warmly welcomed. We discussed that we were there to go to the Sky Bar so we were taken up to the 64th floor and escorted as it can be a little tricky finding the venue as there are 6 bars/dining areas at the State Tower. The moment we stepped on the outdoor terrace overlooking Bangkok we were in AWE and we loved that there was live entertainment playing a variety of different styles of fantastic music (icing on the cake for us!) We were first taken to the immediate bar area overlooking the Al Fresco restaurant and Sky Bar but you’re literally in the same overall area. My husband and I hit the jack pot we thought as we ordered our first set of cocktails to start the evening as we had our very own cocktail table just a few feet from the band it felt like we were at a live concert all to ourselves! Because I read numerous reviews I knew about their signature cocktail crafted for the Hangover II cast and crew so of course I had to try it and Loved it. (Note: the cocktail/champagne menus that were originally provided to us for our 1st set of cocktails only had a few selections so I asked for the Hangovertini which was not on the menu provided and the staff said of course we can make that with a kind smile.) After about an hour or so we then venture to the Sky Bar area ordered another set of cocktails and just loving our evening! As to be expected people are taking their photos throughout the evening. We arrived about 8:30 and there was plenty of room to walk around and take in these magical views although around 9 ish we noticed the crowds coming in but not bad at all as the venue is Huge and there are several levels. I can definitely see that closer to the weekend it would be pretty busy. Everyone was pleasant enjoying one of the Best Rooftops in the city and staff were so sweet assisting in taking pictures:) *We NEVER felt pressured to purchase cocktails at ALL! Would we return to the Sky Bar Absolutely it’s one of those Special Places that you say you only live once! We rate The Sky Bar 5 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Thank you Sky Bar for making our experience in Bangkok even more Spectacular than it...
Read moreMy 4th time here and it gets worse each time. This place used to shine and was a required stop on my last night in Thailand to say goodbye to another amazing trip and show guests the views. This time (Dec 5, 2024) was the worst. The lobby is so sadly run down and vacant. You’re not sure if the place is even open anymore. Then they ushered you into an elevator for 64 floors. Smooth and awesome. You are greeted by 10’s of staff with smiles. They direct you to a side bar with a view, not the bar anyone wants to be at, then another side bar, no one wants to be at, then a 3rd bar no one wants to be at. They insist you stay and buy drinks at these bars. Be persistent. Everyone is here for the sky bar with the view, the stairs, the dome, and the hangover fame. They would not let us order a drink at the actual sky bar and insisted we had to buy our drinks at the champagne bar overlooking the bar and then we could walk out there with our drinks if we wanted to. Not one of us were having wine or champagne so they took our order and the drink had to be made at another bar and be brought out to us. Kind of takes away the charm of watching your $50 drink being made. Could have been premixed for all we know. When we got the bill the drinks were USD $45 each for hangovertini’s and $52 for an aperol spritz. $160+ USD for 3 drinks. I get the prices should be higher for the great atmosphere and view, but visiting LA, NYC, London, Singapore, and Paris I’ve never ever paid this money for mediocre drinks. One of our guest only drinks beer and when he asked what kind of beers they have, they said we don’t serve beer anywhere on this level (rooftop). I’m certain this forces people to buy more expensive drinks. So he just didn’t buy a drink at all. Not sure what the business strategy is here, but it doesn’t feel like they are in the business of making customers happy, but rather making as much money as possible. The entire bar, policy, and prices need a major makeover. It’s all tired. Lights going out, not replaced, lit stairs with some going out, dirty railings, and a lot of attitude that is not customer focused at all. Yes the view is fantastic, go for that. If you can go to see that, grab a few pictures your night is complete and get out of there and go somewhere that feels like thailand...
Read moreI got food poisoning from the Orange Blossom cocktail. I only drank half the glass. About 20 minutes after drinking it, I experienced severe stomach pain and vomited three times. I honestly wouldn’t recommend drinking anything there — just enjoy the view.
I called the bar manager, the manager is Monthon Kongkoon, senior bar manager. But he didn’t offer any compensation, claiming it wasn’t their fault. I understand that I’m paying for the view, but they completely ruined the experience. I wasn’t there alone — I was with my girlfriend and my sister. Naturally, their evening was ruined as well, since I ended up vomiting in a hospital restroom. The manager showed zero understanding and refused to take any responsibility. That’s a huge sign of disrespect toward customers. I’m not someone who complains without reason, but it would have been appropriate to at least offer a goodwill gesture or compensation for a future visit.
The evening was completely ruined. Instead of remembering the view, all of us will remember how I got sick and ended up vomiting. The manager acted like a programmed robot — no empathy, no flexibility. They probably make over a million dollars in revenue, yet can't offer the slightest gesture to a customer who suffered there. Makes me wonder: does this happen to others too?
UPD from 15.07.2025 for Skybar moderator response: I didn’t want to spend more time in the hospital or spend money on medical tests. Yes, I don’t have any proof, but I’m 100% sure that there was something wrong with the cocktail — maybe the alcohol wasn’t of good quality. I know that half a glass of a cocktail can’t cause that kind of reaction in me.
I’m someone who can drink any kind of alcohol. I have no allergies, I can drink half a bottle of vodka and feel fine, and I’ve never had a stomach reaction like that before.
It was just bad alcohol, and you probably know that. You could’ve offered a small gesture, just out of politeness. That’s why I’m posting this story — to share it...
