Unfortunately a disappointing experience…
We went for dinner on Monday 15th of April and had the 5 course chef‘s tasting menu with pairing wines. I will start with the negative points and will finish anyhow with some positive aspects.
NEGATIVE:
Aperitif:
We wanted to start the evening with classic Gibson cocktails. Our young and friendly waitress did not know the drink (what is totally ok as she was really young) and tried to check if they can do a Gibson. I told her as an alternative a classic Daiquiri would be perfectly fine as well. An Italian Gentleman (I guess he was the manager or barmanager) then came to our table and explained everything would be possible — unfortunately as a result we got “Gibsons” served with fresh slices of onions…
This “onion water” was barely drinkable but like during the whole dinner there was almost no communication wether or not the food or the drinks is tasty and if everything is alright during the whole dinner.
Guests at the Bar:
As you can see on the website the location asks for a dress code what is for us totally understandable and I think it is nice to dress up for going out and enjoy a special moment.
In reality most of the other guests where dressed and behaving totally inappropriate… This refers mainly to the guests that where gathering around the bar so it might be that for the bar are different rules…?
Anyway the atmosphere gets killed when you are disturbed by folks non stop taking pictures, being loud and behave as the place is a trashy beach bar at a cheap all inclusive resort!
We mentioned this to our waitress and that we are about to leave without any reaction but as we have been served already our first course we decided to stay.
Food:
Overall the food was average. A little highlight was the duck breast.
Not to get me wrong of course the ingredients are for sure of high quality but there was nothing surprising or ultra creative when it comes to innovativ taste pairings. For the money you pay at Sirocco there are plenty of other locations and even Michelin star restaurants that you will be easily able to afford and get way better dishes to be honest. Siroccos cuisine not memorable unfortunately!
Service:
The service team was friendly but not for the details. There was barely water refill, communication about our satisfaction and even the Italian Gentleman couldn’t remember me when I was having a cigarette at the bar.
POSITIVE:
Sommelier:
The young Indonesian sommelier was the only person within the team that gave as a passionate impression for his profession and seems to have a deep knowledge. He was really amazing and did a great job.
Music:
The music playlist was amazing as I love the disco and Latino jazz era of South America. We enjoyed a lot of songs from the late 60s to the late 70s.
The View:
Amazing view over the skyline of BKK
Summary:
Unfortunately the few highlights could not compete against the negative overall experience.
Definitely a way overrated spot with show off wannabes, low service standards and...
Read moreDO NOT GO HERE! It was absolutely terrible. My friends and I were EXTREMELY disappointed in this restaurant. Save your time and money, and go to Nobu Bangkok or Le Du Kuan instead of here. Let me break down our experience and why you should avoid it at all costs. I never leave reviews but this one is necessary to save everyone from this horrible experience. Felt like a scam.
First thing when we arrive was go up to the rooftop. It was a decent view, very old money type of vibe. But we thought it was going to be a really popular restaurant. Our reservation was at 8:30 pm but when we arrived, it was completely empty. We were the only ones there eating. It felt weird. Vibes were instantly off. Eating completely alone, just my group on the rooftop. This made the atmosphere feel weird.
Next, the food. My friends and I all order the 5 course set menu. The food comes out EXTREMELY slow and was absolutely terrible. For example, we all paid an extra 1000 THB for “A5 Wagyu” and when that dish came out, it was worse quality steak than a local grocery store. I kid you not. When I say it was terrible, it was so bad that I immediately asked for the check and skipped the rest of the meal. It was THAT bad. Honestly to a point it felt unacceptable like it was a scam. My whole table agreed we wanted to leave because every course was super disappointing.
I then ask for the check so we can pay and just get out of there. When the check comes out, they charged me $84 for still water, a 10% service fee and a 7% VAT fee. And some other things on the receipt I don’t even recall. All I know was I was expecting to pay $200 USD per person, but it ended up around $280 USD per person. It felt like an absolute scam for how terrible the entire experience was.
What was supposed to be a night of celebration for my recent proposal, turned into one of the most expensive and disappointing experiences of Bangkok. Do not go here. Go to Nobu or Le Du Kuan, or literally anywhere else. Save yourself. Your time. Your money. DO NOT COME! AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS.
I have emailed them a complaint because of how strongly I feel from this. Genuinely think a full refund is warranted from how poor the service and food quality was. I will update you guys on the way they try to handle...
Read moreOh my. Oohhh my. Saying this rooftop experience was "awesome," would be an insult. In my life journey, I am learning the difference between good and exceptionally well. Sirroco is a gem. I wouldn't say hidden away because of the Hangover part 2 scene but, my goodness, the customer service...is that not why we splurge, we spend extra, we "spoil ourselves."
I will give an instance of the pleasant surprise You should 100% expect while dining here. Beginning from the 1st floor, you will be greeted and very gently guided to the next location many floors above. Literally, every step of the way you will have a representative who acts as a concierge for you specifically. I have experienced premier customer service in my life fortunately, and to experience that above and beyond caring experience at a restaurant of all places, is a lovely surprise.
I want to take the time to recognize Mr. Jake and his outstanding customer service. Everyone here, legitimately, I feel one day will be aggressively poached to work in the world's best customer service jobs of every differentprofession. Mr. Jake was my "concierge" if you will, while I was served. He advised me on "how" to eat the unique and very tastful dinner dishes. I asked about the order in which to eat certain dishes and I am absolutely sold on the idea that I experienced something not common in the customer service world. I depended on Jake for his "take" on the various dishes I was being served. Jake's responses weren't just what he loved or preferred, he would respond with a depth in knowledge on the various ingredients I was going to happily devour. Jake even advised me--as another example--on the proper way to cut the world famous Japanese Wagyu Beef. Jake, to me, is a big part of why I still carry faith in Humanity as a whole of this Beautiful Earth. He is just a wonderful human being. The entire staff is like that though.
Imagine that with live music and a night skyline view of a part of Bangkok that you will not soon forget. If there is any hesitation, please move beyond those thoughts because on the other side of that decision is a lifelong memory that you...
