Kaeng Liang Restaurant — Restaurant in Talat Nuea

Highly Recommended! Years ago PhiChai and Ratchada had a restaurant in Rawai, south of the Chalong circle. At the time I was a single dad, and often Ratchada would help my daughter with the homework written in Thai-fond memories. It was a place for a group of expats to sit and enjoy an early evening together as well. Kaeng Liang is their newest creation, a reflection of the extra care that they gave me, my daughter and so many others years ago. The food is excellent; the atmosphere, the care they provide is what most are looking for in a restaurant. Today I am sure that their customers will leave with the feeling that they too have just met new friends...

As the name implied, Kaeng Liang is this local soup (spiciness level can be adjusted) that shouldn’t be missed.

Other reviews already mentioned about their fish curry so I’ll skip that review. Extra bonus for their location...it’s located right inside the shophouse along the historical street lined with Paranakan houses...the shophouse itself contains some photos from back in the day so you can get a piece of history here...

Have lived on the island for 15 years. The Thaï couple who own the place used to have a restaurant in Chalong called La Fontaine. Since Covid La Fontaine closed and they moved to Phuket town in the more than 100 year old family house. They are the friendliest people there is and the food….!!! All I can say is that it is very simply and surely the best you can find on the island, no questions...
