Literally stumbled onto this place. Frequently refusing to look at the map, I wander. Today I end up going to complete opposite direction that I should have been, but it turns out it was the perfect direction.
It led me here.
What phenomenal ambience. It's nearly time for me to eat, so I just got a little dessert...
phyllo dough wrapped around cheese, seasoned with cinnamon and a scoop of vanilla ice cream and some orange slices.
It really hit the spot.
The waiter, when I went into the main dining room to do a little video, showed me where they had just made jars and jars of plum jam and also made winter menemen sauce.
The enclosed courtyard area is quite lovely with the grapevine overhead, all the other plants, exposed brick wall, warm wood furniture and really soothing vocal smooth jazz standards playlist.
Just refreshing despite the fact that it's right here by a busy road and under another road.
The call to prayer was just icing on the cake!
Super warm nice people here! If I were staying more than a few days I would definitely make this a...
Read moreThe 5 stars is purely based on their much deserving food. Let's face it, no one dines there for the atmosphere. It's simple, humble and authentic... Not much to rave about. The service staff were lovely - so warm, polite and kind. The waiting time for the food is another factor though. We were starving and had to wait quite a while for our food and that honestly annoyed me. However, all the wait was worth it as we tucked in to one of the best (if not the best) breakfast. We ordered smoked turkey bruschetta and a koket each. The koket was eggs with goat cheese, sauteed mushrooms and baked potatoes with beetroot. The flavours were OUTSTANDING and beautiful! The koket is definitely a must try. We'll definitely go there again - for the incredible food and wonderful service. By the way, we didn't chance upon this place. We were heading to eminonu and though this restaurant wasn't exactly on the way, we decided to head there anyway as it was highly recommended by a friend (I can totally...
Read moreStay away. Bad service even for Turkish standards. Worst restaurant in our three week stay. It was convenient for a quick breakfast but we ended up being here for a hour. We were the only customers. Three of us (out of four) had to make different selections because they were out (they just opened). Went to wash my hands and the bathroom was "occupied". I had the basic eggs and sausage (after having to change my order). It was picture as sunnyside up but it was scrambled. It was yuck. Tried to use the bathroom before leaving, but was still "occupied". Again, we were the only customers and so unless the staff had gastrointestinal problems, it was probably broken but they would not say that. I don't get why that rating...
