Apollon Rooftop Restaurant — Restaurant in Fatih

We have visited this restaurant twice. The first time was fantastic why we came back 2 nights later for a second dinner. However, this visit was a big disappointment. The view over The Blue Mosque was still excellent. But the food this time was simply bad. We had to send the shared selection plate out as everything was cold and the meat was not tender at all. We got a new menu of different kind of food but still had to pay for the big selection plate. The lamb chops were ok. The casarolle of chicken was neutral and untasty. The service was much better the first time than the second time. The waiter even pressed for a 10% service charge even though the evening had been a mixed experience. First visit: 4-5 stars. Beautiful view and tasty food! But way it was served was off, by the time food came I lost my appetite. We were not very hungry so we ordered soup for myself and a glass of wine for my husband. We also ordered testi kebabi. Soup was good, bread came after I finished my soup. The testi kebabi came after 45 minutes, in the meantime they brought bread and a dish of rice and fried potatoes, it was supposed to be eaten with testi kebab. That dish became very cold by the time testi kebab came. Also testi kebab should have been served in bowl instead they poured it on cold flat dish and it became cold very quickly. Gentleman on the door very pleasant. Went up to restaurant bearing in mind only two tables full. Staff standing around not doing a lot. Ordered drinks and food, took half an hour to serve food which we had to remind the restaurant manager about. The manager fetched the food after we threatened to walk out and it was lukewarm and not hot as you would expect it be if it has just been cooked. A Turkish family came in after us and got their food within 15 minutes. Asked for the bill they did not get that right as did not charge for the drinks.
