I had the pleasure of dining at Hardamout Yemeni restaurant in Istanbul at Aksaray metro station and it was an unforgettable experience. This hidden gem was an accidental discovery that turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip. The fact that there are three restaurants of the same chain around the Aksaray metro station speaks volumes about the popularity and consistency of this establishment.
The menu offers authentic Yemeni cuisine that is definitely worth trying. It's not haute cuisine but rather homemade food that is both tasty and served in large portions. We visited during the month of Ramadan and were impressed by the way the restaurant imposed the traditions of Islamic culture on the dining experience. There was a special menu and food was served only after sunset, which added to the uniqueness of our experience.
Our group of over 20 people ordered two large dishes with different varieties of rice and meat, salads, and a couple of bowls of stew. In addition, we were brought a large number of snacks, dates, samsa, and traditional lentil soup. The appetizers were already enough to satisfy our taste buds, but when the main dishes arrived, we were blown away by the portion sizes. Even with twenty people, we could only eat a quarter of the food brought to us, and everything else was packed to-go. The leftovers lasted us for another 2-3 days.
The taste of the food was simply amazing - the crumbly rice and melt-in-your-mouth meat were exceptional. The bread cakes deserve a special mention as they were baked in a real wood-fired oven, making them incredibly delicious. The combination of the bread cakes and meat was out of this world, and we just couldn't get enough.
What's even better is that this amazing dining experience cost us less than $16 per person. The polite and friendly staff added to the charm of this restaurant, making it an unforgettable experience that we'll cherish forever. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Istanbul, and I can't wait to come back on...
Read moreThe highlight of my visit was the authenticity of the food. Hadramout Yemeni Restaurant truly captures the essence of Yemeni flavors and culinary traditions. The menu offers a wide variety of traditional Yemeni dishes, including fragrant rice dishes, succulent grilled meats, and flavorful stews.
While the food was undoubtedly delicious, there were a few minor areas where improvement could be made. The portion sizes were slightly smaller than expected, especially considering the prices. Although the quality of the food was excellent, it would have been even more satisfying if the portions were a bit more generous. Additionally, the menu could benefit from more vegetarian and vegan options to cater to a wider range of dietary preferences.
Despite these minor areas for improvement, Hadramout Yemeni Restaurant remains a great choice for anyone seeking an authentic Yemeni dining experience in Istanbul. The flavors of Yemeni cuisine are beautifully presented, and the warm ambiance adds to the overall charm of the restaurant. Whether you're a fan of Middle Eastern cuisine or simply looking to try something new, Hadramout Yemeni Restaurant is a...

The menu had a wide range of traditional Yemeni dishes, and everything looked delicious. I decided to try the Mandi, which had perfectly cooked, tender meat with flavorful rice. I also ordered the Fahsa, a rich and tasty stew that was perfect with the fresh Yemeni bread. The food was served hot, and the portions were generous.
One thing I really liked was how fresh everything tasted. The spices and flavors were just right, making each bite enjoyable. The prices were also reasonable, which made it great value for money.
