We were initially drawn in by the inviting exterior—cozy benches, elegant awnings, and warm lighting. The menu promised more variety than the typical spots, raising our expectations.
Unfortunately, the reality didn’t live up to the promise. The wait for our food was lengthy, and when it finally arrived, the presentation was appealing—but appearances can be deceiving. The steak was overcooked—dry, tough, and far too well-done. As for the "salad," it was nothing more than some chopped onion carelessly tossed on the plate with a sprinkle of herbs. The chicken with apricots was equally disappointing, with unbalanced flavors and an absurd amount of large, dried apricots—ten in total, as if anyone could, or would want to, eat that many. Worse, they weren’t even cut into bite-sized pieces. The accompanying salad was no better—just flavorless carrot strips and lettuce. To top it off, I bit into a small stone hidden in the food.
We tried to get the staff's attention, but it was nearly impossible. They seemed more focused on flirting with a tipsy guest at a nearby table. When someone finally asked how our meal was, they were polite and offered ice cream as an apology. But again, we were left waiting. After giving up and asking for the bill, the ice cream finally arrived, along with baklava and tea. While the desserts were good, the gesture felt half-hearted and insincere.
The final blow was the overpriced bill, inflated by undisclosed TAX (and service fee) that wasn’t clearly stated on the menu. A bit of transparency would’ve gone a long way.
Overall, the experience was disappointing, and we won’t...
Read moreI hope that people can appreciate that I rarely post bad reviews but after my experience this weekend, I was mortified by how I was treated and feel others need to be warned.
I came with my partner and the staff were respectful and very pleasant when I was with him.
However, the 2 times I went to the toilet, I was groped and leered at by the male staff. The second time it escalated to one of the staff by the toilets asking innocently for a high five, only to grab my hand, kiss my arm and try to pull me into him. I had to forcefully pull away, which not only was scary for me but made me angry that he felt he had any right to touch me in this way.
This behaviour is completely unacceptable and there is no excuse for it but I want to point out that I was not dressed in a way that some men may try to excuse their behaviour by saying I was looking for attention; I was wearing trousers and a turtle neck top.
I have not experienced this behaviour by staff in any other bar or restaurant in Instanbul and I do not expect to ever be treated in such a disrespectful way - by not just one member of staff but several of them. The experience shocked me and it makes me angry that as a woman on my own, I cannot walk within an establishment without male staff commenting on my appearance and trying to grab me.
It is a shame because the food was tasty and the seating very comfortable - although the cocktails watered down. But the owner really needs to speak to his staff about treating women with respect. We do not live in a world where men can treat...
Read moreBEWARE OF Hanedani Aras and dont go into that area were they are pushing you to stay in their restaurant! Better go to other, mostly smaller restaurants in regular shopping streets, there you pay the half!
I was looking forward to eat good and a bit less than in my country. But this restaurant was a catastrophy. Far too expensive!! A little, little fish, one slice of a "spicy" onion (I love onions, but this was also for me too "spicy"), one tomato and one potato with a side bread for 26 Euros!!! No salad, no rice, no grilled vegetables... and this price! The bread and potato were also hard, so not good! Cats are running through these streets and begging to you during the meal. Also the guys were more interested in chatting, instead of taking care of their customers.
Thanks for the first food impression in Istanbul and then...
