Date/Time: Sunday 29/07, Late Dinner [10-11PM] Occasion: Dinner w family, tourists. Food: 4.5 Party: Table of 6 Overall: Definite recommendation
On our final night as tourists in Istanbul we picked a local place as we went out for a late dinner. I can affirmatively recommend Dimbil, the food was cooked great and tasty - in a satisfyingly homemade style. We arrived after 10pm and were the only table sitting so was serviced immediately. Food came out by 10:30, was a v quick wait (10/15mins), and we left by 11pm - so this place is open until late as another table sat down when we left.
The food is as mentioned very yummy and all meals were enjoyed (check reciept image for order). If you want to avoid tourist-traps and want a comfortable meal for a fair price I would definitely head to Dimbil. Food presented simply with no nonsense garnish and we finished everything on our plate. Regular portions, easy to walk to, local, clean, affordable. The chef prepared our meals straight away and did not waste time. As a Londoner, the price for a single meal with a drink worked out at £6-10 which is near impossible to find in the UK so v worth it.
Improvements: They did offer complimentary Baklava at the end of service, but unfortunately it wasn't up to standards and we had to give it a miss, otherwise would've been rated higher. Their Western Pizza (Karific Pizza) was reflective of its price, quite basic and decent. I would recommend the other meals which were classic Turkish food (Chicken wings, beyti, adana, Kebap).

Read moreDiscovered this place around the corner from our hotel on the second to last evening of our visit to Istanbul. Wish I had found it sooner! It was quiet as we went at 10pm. However, soon after the restaurant was full of people. Me and my daughter were so hungry we probably ended up ordering too much food for just two people. The bread was fresh, so soft and delicious even on its own and I am sure they baked from scratch. We ordered the Turkish pasta, lahmacun and mixed grill with salad and sides. Everything was delicious and fresh. We felt completely relaxed and enjoyed everything. Leftover food was packed amazingly as we were stuffed! And complimentary tea and baklava was refreshing even though I thought had no space left for more! So affordable compared to how much I had spent at other places for lesser quality food. All staff were polite and respectful, did not crowd us whilst eating like I experienced elsewhere. Option to sit outside, could tell its a family restaurant as big groups arrived after us. Thank you for a...
Read moreTried several dishes here (kasarli pide, patlican soslu, patlicanli kebab) and almost all food was really good, only the meat from the eggplant kebab was quite dry and also unexpectedly spicy (all eggplant kebab I had so far had never been spicy). Very friendly and hospitable owner of the place who also gave several free dishes (hummus, acili ezme, free tea and free piece of baklava at the end). Only the reminders to post a review were a bit too much (asking for a review once is perfectly fine, because the place was actually good, so I would anyhow write a review without several reminders 😉). Price level was significantly better than any of the restaurants in the area (for the same dishes) and given the free gifts, the price level was even better.
Overall I can recommend and would go...
