We happened to stumble across this place when on a little walk and returned later for dinner.
We were welcomed in and despite the rain chose to sit outside under the cover of the cave. We were dry and got to witness stunning views over the town and further afield (much better views then the sunsets views around the town). A beautiful double rainbow shone over which just made this meal even better.
The food was exactly what you want. Nice, tasty and plentiful! We opted for kofte, chicken and gozarme (I think). Everything was delicious, flavoursome and no thrills for sacrifice on quality and taste like some places in the heart of the town. There was a real freshness to everything and the tomatoes in the salad were delicious!
For the service, food, ambience and views the price was very very reasonable. This was the cheapest meal we had here but by far the best.
This was a wonderful place to end our time in Cappadocia and would highly recommend anyone take the time to visit this little...
Read moreThe view is amazing, and the design is great especially for people who would like to take pictures there. But unfortunately, as any other place in Goreme, the food had no taste. I understand that you perhaps would like comfort western tourists when it comes to little taste, but please don’t forget about Turkish people and travelers that want to taste real Turkish food. Salt and pepper is not enough.
From the comments I see other people struggle with this too, and you mentioned that they should have asked for garlic/ more garlic in the food. I think you should make the food as the locals eat, and the tourists that are not used with it should mention less garlic. Or simply ask if they want the local way or westernised.
Very sad in general that in Goreme food has no taste. It was not like this for sure 20-30 years ago, asking locals that grew up in...
Read moreOur lunch at Nazar Borek was among the best experiences of our few days in Capadocia and one of the highlights of our last two weeks in Turkey. The setting was magical: a cave restaurant on the edge of Goreme, and the food was wonderful. We had chicken chops, the Nazar Borek (a phyllo pastry stuffed with ground meat and cheese), and a Turkish salad. The chicken chops were juicy grilled cutlets of dark meat, and the flaky tasty borek was accompanied by a tomato sauce and yogurt. The Turkish salad was a nice accompaniment to both dishes. The price was quite reasonable. Although it was a bit of an uphill climb from town and somewhat difficult to find even with Google maps, and the service was a bit slow, if very friendly, I’d recommend Nazar Borek to anyone who can take the time to experience a relaxing meal in a...
