Good reviews from TripAdvisor and the recommendation from my good friend in the hotel, Bugra, made this the choice balloon selection. The pick up in the morning is collated from several hotels, so do not be late! You will gather at their office at the assigned time depending on sunrise. Mine was 0740hrs. You will make some administrative declarations and be assisted a pilot. Mine was a 19 year veteran, bozlak, who apparently did the first trench of launches in Cappadocia. You will be ferried to the holding point where they will set up the balloons. Several companies launch around the same area where the winds originate down the route. After a 15 min wait, we were in the ballon. I had a superb sigh of relieve coz it was December and dec-apr are months plagued with cancellations due winds and weather. In addition, I had only 1 night in Cappadocia and I had only 1 chance for flight. One thing that amazed me being an airline pilot myself was that bozlak was able to control the height of the balloon off the ground and terrain just a few feet from the passenger carriage and then bounce off. This is where it commanded my 5 stars. This was definitely professionalism manifested in admiration. The only advice is instagrammers would do better in the summer months as a must or fog could cover your shots. Also be appropriately dressed as it was -1C when we were in flight. Bozlak told me that the flight before mine was -19C with the record of -20C. The landing was another skill to admire as bozlak flew the balloon straight into the towed carriage from a ravine to the flatlands. After landing, champagne and fruit juice was provided with plain chocolate cake as a celebration. A neat certificate was printed with your name and the pilots’ name for keepsake. Truly once in a lifetime experience and it was worth every penny! Me and my husband had the luxery to spend our honeymoon in this breathtaking city, Göreme. We did pre-book a tour with Butterfly balloons months before our arrival and when the day had come for us to finally fly the ballons they had to cancell due to the weather condisions. We only had two days in Göreme and the rest of the trip was fully booked with other activities. The company did everything in their power to get us the balloon experince but could not ensure us a spot on the next flight. Later that evening we got a call that two spots was avalible. We where so thankful and happy for all the commitment they put down to make us pleased. Buttefly balloons are very professional in all aspects and we felt very safe with our confident pilot Ziya. He gave us a true adventure and brought us to tears with laugther. The company picked us up at 3:40 am followed by breakfast at their offices. After the breakfast we took another trip to the launch site, then we were off! We choosed a basket with 16 people (plus pilot) and we had good space in the basket. Later on we celebrated our one and a half hour long tour with champagne, participation ribbon and certificates!
