Kushari was overly sweet, served cold in a takeaway plastic lid (!). Onions were burnt. Hummus was chunky, dry, not smooth, not like the menu photo at all. Same toppings + flavor (burnt onion, lentil, garbanzo) as the kushari. Served with one (1!) piece of bread for 2 people. Grocery store bread was cold + stale enough to crack--see photo. Ordered Cleopatra Lemonade and had to ask again halfway through dinner. Eventually it came after my food is done with the excuse "we make it fresh for vitamin C so it takes a long time". Only 2 tables of customers so why not begin to make it when we ordered? Everything served on single-use plastic or disposable paper plates. Plastic cutlery at every table is bad for the environment. İsn't it a small enough place to use real dishes? Food didn't arrive together. Ordered falafel, which never came and wasn't on the bill so İ guess he didn't hear. There was also the saga of the dog who belongs to a staff person. Poor thing is barking all night and gets tied to different posts near the door then across the street then back again. Nice servers but mediocre food + overall a bad dining experience. İ read all the positive reviews...they sound like a totally different place. İ...
Read moreSuch a great find with awesome food and sweet staff. As everywhere else they are currently open for takeout only but luckily it is about 2 min walk down to the park with one of the best views in Istanbul.
The food was great - both tasty and fresh. I couldn’t decide what to order and they were so sweet making up a special plate of the main things I wanted to try. The falafel was so good with unique flavors and the hummus and bread were perfect. I also tried the hibiscus tea and they were nice enough to let me try a small serving of the moussaka as I said I wouldn’t be able to finish a whole thing but it smelled great. There were lots of other great things on the menu that I would come back to try.
One of my favorite things is the story of the owner and chef who are a newlywed Turkish and Egyptian husband and wife. I also loved that all the recipes are real Egyptian ones - they have not used special vegan products but rather there’s enough vegan options in the cuisine that they’ve focused on those. I love when vegan food is authentic and doesn’t use a lot of meat replacements so this was really refreshing and a great authentic experience to have.
I would definitely come...
Read moreSorry guys but this place is overrated if you re following the reviews. The food was mediocre. Falafel plate salads and chips weren’t fresh at all. And only 2 tiny falafel offer isn’t generous for a falafel plate. Falafel was not my taste but I ate.
The so called Egyptian koshari was a disappointment, nothing speacial or tasty beside the fried onion rolls on top! You can do far better with so many great options of fresh herbs, vegetables and grains in Turkey.
The eatery didn’t seems to be clean and neat in the kitchen and there really no bathrooms. Fyi.
The only thing I like was fresh mango juice.
Overall with the amount I paid 300tl, I will choose somewhere better and tastier vegan spots in the city. I hope you find the space to improve yourself with...
