BBG — Restaurant in Dubai

We would like to inform the management about our recent experience in The Beach Bar & Grill. It was a very disappointing one- it’s been a long time since we got so disappointed dining in a reputable restaurant here in Dubai, and considering one of my previous favorite!

We came in as a party of 4 today(Sunday) and was accepted by the hostess despite not having a reservation. We preferred to sit outside since we were from the pool but the only available table was under the sun. We accepted since we thought, maybe after some time we could be transferred when someone finishes dining in… but to my dismay, we were quite simply forgotten.

They didn’t serve to us their usual bread basket, and came in right away with our starter orders… without plates since it is for sharing… and we had to ask for the water that we ordered several times, same as the plates. Server is disoriented. Nobody asked our table how we were doing, or if we would atleast want to be transferred since we already saw so many available tables.

When I asked the hostess if we could be atleast seated in the upper veranda table, she said they just have to clean up. But the server went in and served our 2 burger orders… again, forgetting the sparkling water that we simply ordered ( twice, and brought still water the first time!)

This time I asked for the manager. But waited for a long time. She should be looking out to all the tables and not just taking orders for a specific table! A manager must be present and the face of the restaurant, but obviously she wasn’t. Instead, she resolved the issues by trying to give us complimentary dessert and voiding some items from our check. Without fully understanding what happened and asking and listening the customer’s (me) rants or experience.

We also asked for our burger to be Medium Rare, and it came in very Rare , it was my husband who ate only since he was starving, same as our friends. And one burger plate had the green pepper, and the other none.. same as the other sauce for the burger plate was missing. Where is the consistency??? And what happened to cooking the burger properly ?!

I was fuming (still am) because of the lowered standards of the restaurant, considering we used to come here for about 4-5 times and is part of my favorite restaurant here in Dubai. Obviously now not anymore and will not recommend to any of the people we know. Prices indeed increased in the menu (and we don’t mind , if it is on par with the food and service standards) but obviously this is not the case.

I’m sharing this feedback to the management because something must be done! Don’t let the standards of the restaurant go down like this! We saw it with a potential before and we have shared it to our friends and family … but this is very sad, seeing it go...

We visited the One and Only Royal Mirage Beach Bar and grill 2 days ago for lunch and despite the new revamp which is stunning, the meal itself was far less than stunning. To be honest it was a total disappointment despite the staff being pleasant and efficient. We each ordered a salad each and sparkling water. Based on the above average price tag the portions were small. Salads arrived in very shallow round bowls the rim was about one cm high so no chance for a healthy portion. My artichoke salad was what one would call dull, no dressing, no taste and lacking in artichokes. Besides the lack of dressing the salad contained about three tiny leaves of artichoke and two small bits of the artichoke bottom. The only upside was that the artichoke was fresh and not canned. But it was more of a case of hunt the artichoke in a very sparsely populated plate of Rocca leaves all at the princely sum 80aed. My friend's Riviera salad was drenched in dressing to the point of drowning. She actually had more artichokes in her salad then me. But with soggy, sodden Rocca leaves it was not enjoyed. Not sure if the hotel is on a major economy drive but it felt like it. The sparkling water was brought and served – we had to ask for lemon slices. Ice was not offered. The bottle was left on the table without an ice bucket even though it was a warm day. By the time lunch was finished we were left with a warm bottle of water. For a 5-star establishment one would suppose ice buckets and lemon slices are an automatic when serving water on a warm day on a terrace. The menu does not in any way cater for vegetarians unless one orders the side dishes. Please give vegetarians some consideration this is also a beach bar so not asking for too much. This used to be a favourite haunt of ours, but I do not envisage visiting the place any time soon. So disappointed. It is interesting to note the hotel and restaurant management cannot be bothered to comment on any reviews posted to date....

I've been here a couple of times over the years, this review is more for my last visit just a day ago.

Firstly the service, the staff are just so super nice, I guess you would expect that given the location but that's not always the case, however here we just felt so special, and we looked like total dags, this was a totally unplanned visit, we literally were just driving past after doing some errands and thought ok let's go.

We already had a late breakfast and were just planning a few lazy drinks while looking at the water, but when I saw the 'Australian Wagyu' burger with chimichurri mayo I absolutely had to try it, especially with how excited the guy was when I was asking about it.

The burger for me was pretty ordinary, nothing was technically wrong with it, but the meat, while was superb quality, just lacked flavour, it was cooked perfectly, had a perfect crumble, but I just wasn't wow'd by the flavour of it, and to be honest, at 175dhs for a burger, Im fully expecting to be wow'd. The chimichurri mayo didnt taste of chimichurri to me, it just was like a very thin mayo, and overall the burger just lacked oomph, and the fact that the bun seemed a little sweet to me topped off the very ordinary experience. I have to add though, the accompanying fries were incredibly good, while not crispy, they tasted like real fried potatoes and were seasoned perfectly.

The nice gentleman that was so excited about the burger was clearly disappointed to hear my feedback, but im not the type of person that says 'everything is great' when asked how my food is, especially at this price point, he was talking about the chimichurri mayo or something but I honestly wasnt paying much attention, fact is, at least the burger is not worth the money.

The drinks though, were amazeballs, we'll definitely go back, but not...
