Went to Tagine for iftar at 260 AED PP. tbh was not worth it. It is like getting a breakfast with some chicken / lamb and couscous and 3 shrimps for 3 people as a main course. It is not enough. Only water is served / no bottle at the table and we needed to keep asking for refill whenever we were lucky to get noticed by someone. Was so super thirsty all the time. Service is not enough and quite slow. Which is surprising as a big team is there for welcoming and for goobyes at the entrance but servers seems not enough. The Iftar is a Rather expensive breakfast.. Been to lots of iftars and in 260 AED you can get massive amazing / delicious iftars. Also they require full payment 2 days before the booking (I get why now). Wouldn't recommend.
Also we told them when making the reservation that one of us is gluten intollerant. But there weren't any adjustments made. Even we ask 4 different employees and still there was only gluten containing products at the table. I had to watch my friends eat for at least 40 minutes before they bring glutenfree bread and some soup. It is good that they recovered and bring something gluten free. But it sucks if we mentioned when reserving, we tell 4 different people at the restaurant and until the 4th person nobody took action. Sucks if you've been fasting all day and see everyone eating and you're just sitting there at the table observing. It should've been there from the start. Also in the main course couscous and lamb was with gluten. So only some plain rice (4 table spoons) and 1 piece of chicken and 1 small shrimp was there for me to eat. They weren't prepared and didn't bother either. Also the dessert served contained gluten as well without a heads up.
Water consumption was restricted. Left hungry / thirsty.
Even without the Gluten restrictions wouldn't bother paying this big amount for the options you get. It wasn't worth more than 150...
Read moreThis restaurant has great potential but the woman at the front desk is sadly - woefully - unwelcoming. It sadly hurts the restaurant’s reputation and loses them loyal customers. Our respect and trust is broken now :( We returned only a few days after our first time, to dine again there, because we had such a lovely first experience. Our waiter had been lovely, and the atmosphere had been cozy and warm. Unfortunately this time, as we expressed disappointment (not anger) that one of the booths wasn’t available, no care was shown whatsoever. No apology, no offer of another table until the one we wanted was available, no offer of the larger corner table until another booth was available, just nothing. We could have been offered to wait on the sofa with some nibbles until a table was available, or asked to come back later, SOOO many ways to care for your customer, and we were just left to walk out. We’d waited all day to eat, looking forward to tagine again. We eat out 3x a week, and 1-2 of them would have been this restaurant now we found it. My husband is Moroccan and loves dining on Moroccan cuisine, we were planning to make it our new favorite. Sadly for them, we will stick to our other regular restaurants in future, and only visit tagine when we are in the area & starving. Don’t bother booking a table because they don’t reserve the one you want, and won’t care when you’ve driven far and missed food for this place. They need to change the person who greets people and organize themselves with how they treat diners, or they won’t be open long. It’s really a huge shame on them. We would have bought all our clients who come to Dubai there, they lost a LOT of business by not showing any effort to accommodate us or make us feel even slightly welcome....
Read moreTagine at the Mirage is a must try if you’re staying in Dubai. The server was incredibly helpful in making recommendations, the atmosphere and decor were gorgeous, and I couldn’t have enjoyed the food more.
They start you off with two large loads of fresh baked bread and olives which are both quite good - itd be easy to fill up on just these as the server offered me more olives after I polished off the first bowl.
Then the server recommended their chicken pastilla as an appetizer. I was skeptical about a savory pastry with cake icing on it but man was I wrong - imagine the flakiest phyllo dough with an incredibly well seasoned chicken - egg mixture inside that has just a slight pang of sweetness to it. Very delicious
Next came the lamb tagine which was fantastic - the meat itself was so tender and well seasoned, and the vegetables that came with it were quite fresh. At this point you might be rather full but you can’t go wrong with a dessert here - Jawhra came highly recommended from the server, and again I was on the fence as I’m not a huge fan of rose water. But the delicate balance of just a touch of the stuff in the layers of pastry cream on top of the dried fruits and tiers of phyllo dough had me eating my words (and all of the dessert).
All in all it was a fantastic experience , the music and decor really gives you the vibe of being in a Moroccan tea house, and the food couldn’t have exceeded...
