CHAIWALLA 42 Monmouth St, Bath BA1 1EN Average spend for lunch : £6 - £10 pp
During our visit to Bath .. we had a friend who was vegetarian and we all wanted to snack at same place at a reasonable price
We stumbled upon CHAIWALLA it's a smal joint in the heart of the city ..
No place to sit indoors.. only takeaway..
The place was busy and was operated by a single member of staff which was a bit surprising.. but I believe owner was trying to save cost on manpower and may be happy to lose business in attempt to save cost .. dealing through the work pressure and orders coming in through one after the other the staff member served everyone with a smile and managed to have a short conversation.. during which I was made aware about the history of the place
I ordered onion bhajiya wrap and my friend ordered chickpeas curry and rice ...
The food was delicious
I would highly rated this family run business serving the tastiest food at...
Read moreI wanted to try Chai Walla after seeing the reviews online. I ordered the Falafel Wrap & Samosa, but was told they could do me a Falafel and Onion Bhaji wrap instead as they didn’t have enough Falafels for just a Falafel wrap. Even though this would’ve normally cost £9, they only charged me £7.50 as this was the cost of a Falafel Wrap and Samosa.
I can’t understate how flavoursome, delicious and moreish both the wrap and samosa were. I have tried quite a few falafels in my time, but this was the best ever. Coupled with the jovial and friendly service, getting food from Chai Walla was simply an absolute treat. I can’t wait to come back here again.
My partner also got an Onion Bhaji wrap with a samosa and absolutely loved hers as well. The portion sizes were really fantastic value as well. I implore anyone visiting Bath to try this food. You won’t be...

Unfortunately, their famous samosa chaat was not available during our visit as the chickpea curry was still being cooked, which was a little disappointing. We decided to go for the samosa and chai instead, hoping for an authentic taste of India. Sadly, the samosa lacked all the traditional Indian flavors, with no proper masala or spice profile one would expect. The chai too was a complete letdown — bland and tasteless, far from the rich, aromatic experience we associate with Indian tea. The saving grace was the onion bhajji wrap, which was reasonably flavorful and enjoyable, though still not outstanding. Overall, the experience felt underwhelming given the hype around this spot. With some improvements in authenticity and preparation, it could do...
