With a short lunch break, me and my friends set out with a spring in our step. Just looking for some food that would invigorate us for the day ahead. Little did we know, we would soon be having the worst eating experience that I have come across in this world. It is important to understand our mindset as we entered the stable. We were happy and just looking for some nice food. OK food would have been fine in this situation. We were not looking for something incredible, but we did not expect what was to come. We had not been to the Stable before but were interested to see how it was. We were sat in the worst table in the entire place. It had three seats and you had just enough space to put a spoon. We shortly moved ourselves to the better option. This would not have effected the taste of the food so I do not find this too offensive. After ordering two pizzas, The Pumproom Piggy and The Longhorn Jim. Both tasted awful. There is no way to describe the disappointment this brought on myself and my contemporaries. Instant regret hit us all as we were dumbfounded with what we put in our mouths. It looked and was called pizza. The price was certainly linked to the pizza on the menu. But this was truly a disgrace to pizza. I have eaten things that have not tasted too great before, but this was on another level. I can not think of a time where I have disliked anything this much. My mouth was confused, there was a disconnect happening from my mouth to my brain. Looking at it I knew it was food, but tasting it I could not understand how this was possible. It did not look We could not fathom what had just happened. We somehow went out for a nice lunch and ended up paying to get our day ruined. Having paid upfront we left with devastation in our hearts and a heavy cloud over our heads. The pizza slowly made our day worse from there on. Every time we thought back to the disaster of a lunch, the mood depressed. Not only was this an emotional toll, we were not happy with the taste that plagued our mouths. It began to affect our physical health and I just felt nauseas thinking of the experience. I have been having trouble conveying how I felt ever since. I was not myself for the rest of the day. To conclude, I am not looking to visit The Stable again. This will affect the rest of my life as I feel compelled to tell every person I meet about my bad experience. The food has shaken my faith in the existence of pizza that is not an affront to your mouth. I would not recommend going to this...
Read moreWent in with some friends for a nice lunch, and sad to say was thoroughly disappointed.
When we first arrived we were the only people in the restaurant, and for some reason were sat at probably the smallest table in the building, as there were three of us, we opted to move to a better seating area, as there wouldn't have been enough space for the food. We ordered the food, (where I had to pay at the till there an then, rather than at the end which was disappointing) and it didn't take too long to arrive. We were also obliged to serve our own water as opposed to have it brought over to us, which, while not overly inconvenient, was a little annoying (trying to carry a jug and glasses through a restaurant wasn't the highlight of my day). The food was by far the most disappointing part of the meal. We had 2 pizzas, and both were quite frankly, terrible. One came with bacon and a fried egg, which on the menu sounded appealing, but when we received said pizza we were astonish by how lame it looked. The base on both pizzas was very thin, meanwhile the topping itself look very unappealing. There was a huge imbalance in the topping which made sharing a pizza with friends quite the nightmare, as some slices of mushroom and bacon were very large while other slices of the pizza had next to no topping at all. The other pizza, which was a vegetarian one, was even worse. The pizza itself was incredibly greasy which is something I would expect from a fast food place and not a restaurant like The Stable. The pizza tasted quite horrible, and while featuring some nice ingredients such as spinach and potato, the pizza as a whole just ruined these. It had far too much cheese and the grease meshed with this to make what was probably the worst pizza of my life. The three of us felt quite sick after eating the pizza, and did throughout the day, which was very discomforting.
Though I can't speak for the pies and cider, I would advise people to stay away from The Stable. The food quality was horrible, and the service is very disappointing (going to the counter to order, and paying right away, serving own water etc.) though the staff were polite aside from seating us in a...
Read moreGreat food, filthy toilets! So I'm not sure how many stars to give? We had a late lunch here, it was the first time I've eaten there and it will be the last. The food was good, we all had different pizza, I loved the names of the pizzas which had been thought about and definitely brought a smile to all of our faces. I had a Mushroom Magic and it was really tasty. I took half of it home for my lunch the following day as I couldn't eat it all, they provided a take away box for my leftovers. Drinks, we all ordered draught lager, they brought 1 of the 3 we ordered over and explained they'd run out of that lager and they suggested an alternative, so we ordered 2 of those. They came back with 1 lager and again said they'd run out of the alternative, could they now suggest another which we went for. It took a very downward direction when I went to the loo. I used the accessible/disabled toilet, it was filthy! I don't mean someone earlier that day had made a mess in the toilet, I mean it was grime that had accumulated from a long time of not being cleaned. The tiles were supposed to be white so it was very clear to see how dirty they were. The toilet brush looked like it should have come with a hasmat suit if it required using. The emergency pull cord handle was so dirty that I think anyone who was in need of pulling it would seriously have thought twice and considered which posed a greater risk, potentially lying on the floor for hours until discovered or the risk of contracting goodness knows what disease by pulling the cord. I know that a lot of places have relaxed their cleaning regimes as we begin to live with covid but that was months of dust and dirt on the pull chord. Although the food was good I always feel that if a place can't be bothered to clean their toilets properly they can't be bothered to clean their kitchen properly either. If I had used the loo before we'd eaten I would have left...
