Dear team We booked a pre theatre table hence not having time to discuss further on the evening!
Now I have had time to reflect on our experiences at the G.Head we were dissatisfied with the following:
my burger as discussed was only lukewarm and now looking at the photo in daylight, was clearly undercooked!
The managers attitude to the incident, was patronising, insulting my intelligence! eg referring to personal choices, comparing a burger to ordering a steak!
There's no comparison and if there were you would still serve a rare steak hot!
I am in my 60s and often eat rare fillet so please think twice before you consider taking a similar approach with your future customers!
I would also point out even if your analogy was accurate, I wasn't offered a choice of how I'd like my burger!
The manager clearly didn't know what vegetables were in the tart , you would have been better off checking with the chef!
The manager was clearly stressed by having to train new staff....
When visiting Bath we always give credit where its due writing positive reviews on social media etc , to date we haven't had a cause to complain, unfortunately on this occasion The Garrick s head was the dampener of an enjoyable wk end, and to rub salt in the wounds you charged a service charge for poor service!
This was the 1st time at The G.Head it has so much potential as a gastro pub, however its a real shame we won't be revisiting...

Just on the outskirts of central Bath, this delightful classic British pub has lovely interior with whimsical decor yet classy at the same time. Service was a confusing at first, but was just swell once we were seated...the leftside is a side is a traditional sit down restaurant service, the right side is a classic pub style where you order everything at the bar, and the expansive outside patio is self service as well, a completely taken over by smokers and vapers like every other European patio.
ÂŁ20 FISH & CHIPS! The fresh beer battered haddock was thick and crispy on the outside, and moist and tender on the inside, perfection!, The chips were pleasant enough, though crushed minted peas were just okay...maybe because they day prior I had some incredible mushy mint peas at another pub. Still a great plate overall!
ÂŁ20 SHORTCRUST PIES...wife went with the Chicken, Leek, and Herb...wonderfully rich and savory, with flavorful scent and warm, buttery pie crust. Lovely! Also came with seared greens, braised red cabbage, buttery mash potatoes, and rich decadent red wine gravy.
ÂŁ7.5 STICKY TOFFEE PUDDING...gooey, sweet, sticky, buttery, and...
Read moreDuring our first night in Bath me and my fiancĂ©e decided to stop here for dinner expecting your usual sort of âpub grubâ. We were both pleasantly surprised by the options available and the quality of the meals that we ordered.
I cannot recommend the breadboard side order enough, it is delicious. Iâm a lover of bread with olive oil & balsamic vinegar, it even came with some garlic butter. For ÂŁ5.50, I was very pleased with the portion for a side order, I was glad I was sharing it with my fiancĂ©e before our main courses arrived.
Both of our main courses didnât disappoint. My wagyu was juicy and flavourful whilst my fiancĂ©e throughly enjoyed her Cornish mussels.
We dined here on a Tuesday and it was very popular so I would recommend reserving a table if youâre planning to dine here on a Friday or over a weekend.
The young staff were welcoming and polite. They were always on their feet throughout our meal to ensure tables were cleared and cleaned ready for the next diners whilst also checking in with current diners in case they needed anything.
I would highly recommend stopping off and eating here if youâre in Bath for the day or a nearby local who hasnât tried it out yet, I think it has something...
