Located in Central Birmingham opposite St Martins Church, the restaurant stands out at night when lit up over 2 levels. The restaurant boasts a very modern and chic alfresco dining experience with friendly staff on board throughout the visit to help who were also very attentive. The venue has distanced its tables accordingly with screens between them and sanitiser avaliable as well as participating in NHS Test and Trace. It was not too busy at the time I went today. I entered the restaurant and was greeted and shown to my table promptly. I'm never actually tried a Thai restaurant before so this was a first for me. All staff were wearing appropriate PPE. There's an open kitchen on view in this restaurant which is lovely if you want to see how your food is prepared. Its also very bright in here with loads of bespoke lighting arrangements. A little enclosed fish tank also brightens up the interior. It had a very authentic Thai feel to it in my opinion. Loads of Buddha heads everywhere.
Today I had the following;
--
Starter: Chicken Satay The classic with peanut sauce and Thai sweet relish. You could smell it as it was delivered with that strong satay smell to them. The chicken was extremely tender and near enough melted in your mouth. The peanut sauce accompanied this well but I didn't see any Thai sweet relish. A bit of veg on the side was a lovely touch to this starter.

Main: Crispy Pork Belly Pork belly, sugar snap peas and peppers mixed with fresh chillies, garlic and hot basil leaves. This looked very fresh and appetising when it came to the table. This was quite a spicy dish which was just right for me given that I'm used to spicy foods. The pork belly was exceptionally tender and firm when digging into it. The combination of this and the spice with seasonal veg made it a very gorgeous meal to enjoy. I also added some stir fry seasonal vegetables which consisted of Pak Choi, sugar snap peas (love them😍), tenderstem broccoli, mushrooms and carrots to accompany. These tasted great and took me away from the traditional rice or noodles that I am accustomed to at home.

Overall this cost £18.90 after EOTHO. Soft drinks are on the expensive side in here costing £3.85 for a 330ml bottle of Diet Coke. The food is very reasonably priced even before the discount. Service was spot on. It was quite cute how all staff members had an actual name badge on in here. I asked my host a few questions about the menu and they demonstrated excellent knowledge on hand about recommendations for what I might like. They were also very enthusiastic and friendly. Toilets were nice and compact with little touches to improve the area such as the flowers in the corner and the waterfall sinks. I would thoroughly recommend this restaurant...
Read moreHi today i went to Chaopraya restaurant in birmingham city centre on 29 October 16. It was supposed to be unforgettable date with my girlfriend. I chose this particular restaurant because my friend suggested it to me. I ordered chaopraya mixed grill for 2 and it was completely mixed up. From that moment, my date turned into a disaster. I was ashamed, my girlfriend didn't even touch that food. As soon as it was put on the table, a very bad smell came from the prawns which were hidden under lamb chops and on top of the chicken. The prawns were burned with black skin. Regarding the lamb, I have never tried something that chewy, I felt like I was eating chewing gum with unexplainable taste, it just looked like lamb. The only eatable thing on the plate was the steak and chicken. The entire evening was ruined. That smell of the prawns was so strong that my girlfriend refused to eat or even try the dish. Then, I asked the waiter if they have any desserts for my girlfriend because she had not eaten anything. We were not offered any desserts and the menu was not on the table. The waiter answered me straight away that they didn't have any desserts, i thought what the.... However, the desserts menu is clearly shown on the website. I was very embarrassed because on the way down to the restaurant, I kept telling my girlfriend how a great place it is as my friend who had already been there suggested it to me it and even point out what dish (chaophraya mixed grill for 2) I should take for the first date. I don't even have words for how disastrous the date was date. The only thing my girlfriend had was a coffee. Did I mention the waiter said there was no desserts? No one brought the bill. I had to stand up and get it myself. The food was definitely not worth the price. Nobody even asked how the food was or if we wanted anything else.I came home and told my friend I had a bad experience. He could not believe it and felt bad as he suggested me that place and then showed me a picture of the dish (the same I ordered) he had another time. On the photo, the different meat were separated whereas on mine prawns were at the bottom, topped with lamb chops, looking like lamb but did not taste like anything, and topped with chicken. My friend had 3 sauces with his dish, i had only 2. where was the third one? Probably the same place as the desserts, they simply...
Read moreI recently dined at this restaurant with my family, and unfortunately, the experience left much to be desired. From the moment we walked in, it was evident that the evening would be marred by inconsistencies and disappointments.
Upon perusing the menu, it became apparent that the pages were sticky, a clear indication of lackluster cleanliness. Our starters arrived haphazardly, with some items appearing before others, disrupting the flow of the meal. To exacerbate matters, the starters arrived at our table before our drinks, a clear oversight in service protocol.
While the lamb curry managed to salvage some semblance of satisfaction with its flavorful profile, the accompanying jasmine rice fell short of expectations. Instead of the fragrant, fluffy texture expected of jasmine rice, it resembled sticky rice, indicative of poor preparation.
My daughter's disappointment was palpable when her king prawn noodle dish arrived with a mere three king prawns. Having dined at numerous establishments, she had never encountered such a meager portion, leaving her feeling let down and unsatisfied.
As we concluded our meal and prepared to leave, not a single staff member bid us farewell, compounding our disappointment. The lack of acknowledgment and courtesy further tainted our overall impression of the dining experience.
In conclusion, our visit to this restaurant was marked by inconsistent service and mediocre fare. While there were moments of culinary redemption, they were overshadowed by numerous shortcomings. Regrettably, I cannot recommend this establishment based on our...
