Just wanted to write in and say how impressed I was with not only the food, but also the quality of service I received on what was my first visit to Five Guys, at The Bullring in Birmingham !!!
Just had two days travelling back and forth from London, and after an experience to forget in my first hotel which resulted in me walking out to find another at 10.00 p.m last night, I eventually went out to find food about 10.30 p.m
Whilst quite expensive , I’ve been told many a time how good Five Guys are and as the store was still open, I decided to give it a go.
Once inside there were no other customers in , and Jay, who was busy cleaning, took time to explain how the ordering worked, and that I could have as many toppings as I liked on my burger .
Harrison was cooking or preparing food behind him, and overhearing the conversation made his own suggestions and had some banter !
Having made my mind up I went to pay , and realised I’d left my wallet at the hotel 5 minutes down the road ! Despite the time it wasn’t an issue , and I dashed off to return shortly afterwards. Arriving back at the counter they could see how exhausted I was, but they obviously trusted I would be back, as my food was virtually ready !
Unsure which sauce to have on the burger , they puy the hot sauce in a separate pot, in the event I wanted to give it a go, without it potentially ruining my meal, if not to my taste !!
The burger itself was made in front of me, and was amazing ! All the ingredients were fresh, care had been taken to prepare it for me, and the Cajun chips , which they kindly switched to a regular size , were fabulous !!
The level of service was exemplary, and despite it being 10 minutes to closing, no-one rushed me, but instead Harrison who was now sweeping the restaurant asked on a couple of occasions if everything was ok , before Jay did likewise !
Great food, and wonderful staff made for a brilliant first impression !!!! Customer service is crucial these days and both Jay and Harrison have it in abundance !
Hopefully I...
Read moreSo traumatised it took 2 months to write the review! Let's go here the kids said..... So ignoring the warning signs of the morbidly obese sitting in a zombie like trance whilst, what I can only presume was a combination of grease and sweat, oozed from every fold in their NHS sapping bodies, I agreed to go. Looking at the menu scanning for the meal deals the alarm bells started to ring.....no the place wasn't on fire (though if it did burn down to the ground the building could be repurposed for something more useful to Birmingham...like a a scuba shop), I could not find any meal deals..... I was however blown away with the revelation that I could choose my own toppings......🤯 (unlike other major burger chains??) for a modest charge per topping (definitely unlike any other burger chain). After coming to a decision on our order and momentarily hearing the words "STAND AND DELIVER!" In my head as Dick Turpin at the till said (shudders) "£33.50 please sir" I was handed a ticket, told to make my own drinks and wait in line for my food. 3 soft drinks. 2 burgers a kids burger and a portion of fries...... for £33, this is going to be nice I thought.... After being limited to fanta, fanta and errr...fanta because they had ran out of everything else my number was called and I was then handed a brown paper bag. It was when I took this back to our table (with the most uncomfortable seats u could imagine.... like sitting on a curb). Opening the bag we were greeted by 3 burgers wrapped in grease, wrapped in foil, wrapped in grease .... covered by our fries which had been thrown in. This was the most disgusting meal I have ever been presented with. I took one bite, my son didn't even try it and the better half looked at it like it had just shat on her nan. I'm saying no more, I've wasted enough time and money on this pitiful place where fat...
Read moreFive Guys is the burger spot that you'll travel from out of the city just to visit. Five Guys is your #1 choice for getting something to eat in Birmingham. Five Guys is simply perfection. This is no exaggeration either; I originally visited because of the hype but I saw that the love for this place is well deserved.
Let's start with the burgers. The burger buns are like two doughy pillows , soft but capable of holding the deliciousness sandwiched between it. The patties are scrumptious and so juicy, so the fact that the regular Five Guys burger includes TWO patties to sink your teeth into is honestly a blessing. As for the condiments, the choice is phenomenal. You can choose from any combination of toppings for free, including stalwarts like ketchup and mustard to outlandish picks like grilled mushrooms (there's that many I've forgotten the full list!). The servers are friendly and understanding, so they're happy to help you choose/tell you what's on offer (and tell you nutritional information) upon request.
And then the fries. They are golden, crunchy pieces of deliciousness, wow. If you frequent other burger joints you're probably used to limp, tasteless fries. Yeah, Five Guys fries are nothing like that. They're so tasty and the portions are so generous, you'll want to get one portion to share.
After having written all this, I should say that I'm not even some kind of massive burger lover. I'm not some kind of burger enthusiast and visiting Five Guys, at first, wasn't some sort of pilgrimage. But consider me a convert because this place is truly amazing.
Is it expensive compared to what you're used to paying for for burgers? Oh yeah. But is it worth it? I highly encourage you to visit Five Guys and experience it...
