Perfect for a relaxed dinner on the move.⣠. ⣠Verdict: To be added to the list of "regulars"⣠. ⣠DĆ©cor: 6/10ā£ā£ Food: 8/10ā£ā£ Service: 9/10ā£ā£ Overall: 8/10ā£ā£ . ⣠Background:⣠Wagamamas is a large chain of restaurants serving Japanese inspired cuisine across the UK & Europe. We had been meaning to visit for a while, firstly because one of us had never been, and also because of the recent addition of a "vegan egg" to the menu. We visited on 13 December, after a visit to the Bullring. ā£ā£ Food:⣠On the recommendation of my girlfriend, we went for a "Yasai Katsu" curry each, with a side of "Bang Bang Cauliflower" to share, and a "Vegan Egg" to try. The Curry was based around sweet potato slices battered in sweet breadcrumbs, and served with sticky rice, vegetables and pickles in a "katsu" sauce. The dish tasted great and was very filling; neither of us were able to completely finish. The Cauliflower side was a little spicy for our pallettes but one order ample to be shared. The Vegan Egg was far from exceptional; a little pasty and vinegary tasting and we whilst we are glad we tried it, we wouldn't be ordering it again. ⣠⣠We had the "White Chocolate & Ginger Cheesecake" (great, as expected) and "White Chocolate & Matcha Cheesecake" (hesitantly, not liking Matcha from previous experience, but glad we had tried it as it was surprisingly good). The offer of complimentary green tea at the end was much appreciated.⣠ā£ā£ Service:⣠The venue was very busy on arrival, which is expected this close to Christmas. Seeing this and the seating arrangements, we asked whether we could sit side-by-side but were initially refused. We made the same request to the staff within the restaurant and it was accepted. This was appreciated given that the restaurant was so noisy and had we been sitting opposite each other we would have struggled to hear each other.⣠ā£ā£ Decor:⣠It was very cold the night we visited, and there was a draught blowing throughout the restaurant. Even though we were sat towards the centre of the restaurant and there was an "air-curtain" at the door, it was still felt due to the constant opening of the door.
Timing: We stayed for around 90 mins,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIf I could give 0 stars I would! Worst thing ever! Theyāve mixed up our orders so the waiter called Maria changed it but that meant my friend was finished with her food before I even got mine. Maria was professional and welcoming thatās the only positive about this visit. Then we complained that my friends dish was unusually spicy and inedible even though she always orders it and itās always mild. So new staff coming over called Diana the trainee manager (cherry on top of the cake)has been told my friend didnāt like her dish but she just left and did nothing. Obviously paid the bill even though I shouldāve refused to pay for my friends dish. Then one of the Maria came over to ask how things were I told her my friend did not like her dish. She came back and asked if we have already paid for that I said yes as I have. She wanted to take my friends dish off the bill but instead she said sheāll get my email address so she can pass it to head office and they could send me a voucher of some sort. Itās been days since and I never received compensation. So Iām assuming that email will never arrive thatās just how they make you shut up. Well I left unhappy and they never took that item off the bill or refunded nor did they email about any compensation so I think that whole thing was unprofessional and unacceptable. We ended up leaving hungry as none of our dishes satisfied us. My friend literally couldnāt eat her dish as it was way too spicy and they wouldnāt offer to replace it with something else. I wasnāt impressed by it whatsoever. Rubbish service and food. Customer service and problem solving skills non existent. It was all very unprofessional. Itās a very poor experience which is a shame as I visited wagamama several times before and I always left happy and tipped generously and complimented the chefs. Never again! Safe to say I will not be visiting this chain ever again. Save your time and money donāt bother with...
