This has to be one of the worst JD Wetherspoon’s in the country given the dreadful and rude customer service that I personally endured and witnessed being delivered to other patrons.
On the quiet Sunday night I visited I the found the staff to be so rude and arrogant it was unbelievable to witness.
The bar staff expected you to come to them to be served at the bar, so poorly trained that they considered that a pint of ale was acceptable with it having a third of the pint as head/froth and when being nicely asked to top up the ale the guest given a stare and a tut of disapproval, the purchased bag of peanuts was thrown on the bar into a puddle of spillage, this is just an example of the hapless, disinterested, miserable service that all can expect at The Dragon.
As for the guest real ale choice this is always limited to a maximum of two beers if you are lucky and they are served in plastic jugs even if you are drinking inside and you are not asked if you would like a jug or straight glass, like the Spoons at the nearby New Street Station.
The table I sat at was covered in stains from the previous occupants, despite numerous team members wandering around with cleaning products hanging from their belts not one cleaned the tables I sat at or those around me; the carpets was covered in the discarded food and the whole pub could do with the deep clean; this is especially the case in the woefully disgusting toilets which were a health hazard and a disgrace to the company.
As for the food I ordered, this was delivered with the same distain as the service at the bar, the food was not what I had ordered and when I informed the manager who delivered the dish it caused an interrogation of me to take place yet no apology was forthcoming despite the error being proven.
Truly awful experience which is difficult to relay in words… Just avoid and go to the nearby Spoons at the New Street Station for a wholly different wonderful...
Read moreWe had a bad experience where they substituted several things and did not let us know or check for any allergies. A lot of the food was cold and desserts took over 40 min to come out at which point we asked for a refund as we were going to be late to our show. We were then told that we had put the table numbers in the wrong way round. We had noticed at that point there was a gentleman wondering round with our desserts trying to find us from his own table, so they had not stopped to check it was the right food. While asking for a refund the member of staff we spoke to us told us we had put the wrong number in and therefore it was our fault really. While I don't disagree it was our mistake the person they had delivered the desserts to was walking around trying to find the correct table. So they evidently had not even stopped to check the food was correct when they put it down on the table. While I will more than happily accept we put the wrong numbers in and that that might delay the process, the food itself had only just been delivered to the incorrect table 40 minutes later. At this point we raised a complaint about the rest of our experience and were then told we were rude. We spoke quietly, did not try and raise a scene or ask for compensation just asked for our money back for the dessert. Working in the service industry I am hyper aware of not blaming the individual and trying to approach things in a reasonable manner and can't imagine how what we said could of been interpreted as rude. I sincerely hope the staff had just had a busy weekend and it was a one off bad experience, but I will not be returning...
Read moreWe spent over 3 hours here as we were waiting for a coach. Food was standard Spoons food- tasty enough and plenty of food, piping hot and served quickly at a low price. The young lady manager that dropped off the food and checked in on us (blonde hair, red colourful dress) was smiley and friendly and other staff were helpful also. They have a nice outdoor seating area on the street of China town. However what we really didn't enjoy was two young men openly and blatantly snorting cocaine on one of the raised tables outside. It was busy out there and loads of people would have seen it. They just without a care in the world pulled the little pot out, sprinkled it onto a card and very loudly snorted it. Then one of the repulsive individuals, airways agitated by large amounts of cocaine was loudly sneezing as snot flew out his nose all over the place- totally vile. We moved inside. Whilst I appreciate this is not the pubs fault and it could happen everywhere, if this is the usual clientele then perhaps people like us who aren't into that may wish to give it a wide birth. I'm sure if management had seen it they would have challenged it seeing as this is such a big corporation. It's probably a sign of how disrespectful many people are these days. What they do in their bedrooms is one thing but in the middle of a beer garden full of other customers and in broad daylight I feel it's disgusting and the individuals should not be so selfish. Any way I have said it as we found it so you can make up your own mind. Contemplated informing the police who were cycling around on push bikes but couldn't be bothered with an...
