Nestled in the heart of Birmingham’s historic Jewellery Quarter, Viela is a hidden gem that truly lives up to its surroundings. Walking in, you’re greeted by a warm and inviting vibe that sets it apart from the usual coffee spots around town. The decor is effortlessly cool and intimate, with an aesthetic that blends rustic charm with modern flair—just the right ambiance for unwinding or getting lost in conversation.

But let’s talk coffee. Viela’s baristas know their craft, serving up rich, expertly brewed cups that instantly elevate your day. Whether you’re a purist who opts for a classic espresso or someone who enjoys a flat white, Viela delivers with depth, balance, and character in every sip. It’s evident they’re serious about quality, and the taste speaks volumes.

Although they offer Brazilian delicacies, I was unfortunately under time constraints so couldn’t try those however on my next visit, I sure will be trying an açai bowl or something else from the menu. Overall, Viela feels like a rare find—undeniably unique and effortlessly cool. It’s a place where you can unwind, savor excellent coffee, and feel like you’ve stumbled upon a true diamond in the Jewellery Quarter. Highly recommend for anyone looking to discover Birmingham’s coffee scene...

Viela is the hidden gem in the heart of the jewellery quarter.

We wandered down into the jewellery quarter to see a different slice of Birmingham as we heard the architecture is interesting in that area and we stumbled across Viela quite by chance. We needed to rest up and get some small bites and we decided to give it a go. And we were so glad we did!

The bright and welcoming cafe space has a dance studio attached which is down a couple of steps and through a narrow doorway. When we were there, a capoeira dance session was in full swing with live music which provided the soundtrack to our visit. Our food and drink arrived sporadically but we were in no rush and the food was absolutely worth the wait. We had a range of small bites and each dish we ordered was freshly prepared and utterly delicious. The staff were really lovely and welcoming too and I can’t recommend it enough. Wonderful food...

Great Food! Great Service! Great People!

It has been my number one spot for over a year now, I can't even describe it in words how fabulous this place is.

Whenever I go in (which is pretty often) I always feel like it is my first time the service is always better than the last time and the food is always better than the last time, which shows how good this cafe really is.

The food is also made fresh and to order coupled with the price that is charged you are paying a very reasonable amount.

They also have something for everyone, both vegetarian and meat options and of course a wide range of sweet treats for those with a raging sweet tooth.

This has to be something that you at least try once but be warned after you have visited once you won't...

What a brilliant place! Absolute must for anyone who wants genuine Brazilian food with an owner who clearly loves food and took time to answer questions about what we were choosing. Amazing gluten free and vege choices. Four of us and we all loved it. Photos are the sausage and cheese tapioca crepe (Tapioca de calabresa e queijo) and cassava chips (Mandioca frita) because they arrived first. Once we started eating we didn’t stop for any more photos 🤣! I had the delicious and healthy açai smoothie to drink which I recommend too. And definitely try the cheese scones (Pão de queijo). They are so much nicer than English ones as made with gf tapioca flour so gooey and soft in the middle - melt in your mouth.

Proper Brazilian food & drinks, we had a cheese bum, coxinha, tapioca sandwich, açai smooth and a beer afterwards and everything was very nice & fresh, if you want closer authentic Brazilian experience in the UK you should go. The only downfall was minor, which was low staffing levels, which resulted in cafe closing earlier than expected which we were not aware of while we were sitting down eating. We tried to order to take away the remaining cake / brigadeiro / guarana avaliable in the counter but were told we couldn't as the card machine was turned off which was a shame. We look forward to returning to get the above :'D haha. Highly recommend this place never the less!!
