We decided to go to the restaurant for our sons birthday as it was one of our favourite restaurants years ago and we haven’t been for a few years as we live out of the city.
We was a table of 6 and no one else was in the restaurant. We all only had mains and the menu is very small (no complaining about the menu). However, the waitress still managed to make 4 mistakes, serving a ribeye medium/rare instead of as it was order… medium, it was also served with the wrong sauce, and instead of medium/rare for one of the steaks it was rare, the waitress then also got my daughters order completely wrong, my daughter order filet steak, but the waitress mistakes this for ribeye, my daughter was then told she would have to wait a further 15 minutes for the correct dish but was served her side. Meaning once her meal arrived the rest of the family was almost finished and her side was cold.
We acknowledge human error, as we all make mistakes. However, there was no apology or acknowledgement of her mistakes. The waitress was pregnant so she could have quite easily apologise, and even blame it on “baby brain” and we would have been understanding but the was no apology what so ever…nothing!
The waitress then spent the whole time in the kitchen so whenever we required service for drinks, condiments etc. We would have to get up from the table and get her attention from the kitchen.
I have to be fair and say even with the mistakes the food was very nice (as it always is). However, the service was poor and for my family food service is equally as important as the quality of the food, if not more important.
For this reason we didn’t not leave a tip which is a shame as I can honestly say the chief actually deserved one but the lack of service prevented us from leaving a tip.
Overall a very disappointing experience and because of this we will not be visiting again anytime soon, such a shame as the food is actually amazing here.
When I got home, and was discussing the lack of service with the family. I wasn’t sure it’s find out that we actually paid a service charge as I would’ve asked for that to be removed.
I would recommend customer...
Read moreWe have visited this establishment a few times now for Sunday lunch which is so good here. This time my wife and I visited for one of their speciality " Mexican Evenings On The Terrace" What a great night we had, made better by a warm sunny evening. The price of £30 per person included a free cocktail each on arrival. We had the Tequila sunrise which on arrival looked great and they went down very well. We had a couple more of those through the evening. The main dishes included a Chilli, that had been cooking away steadily for 12 hours, which gave it a nice kick, and also a chicken dish cooked with red and green peppers and onions and a variety of herbs and spices which the chef was cooking in a very large pan on the sheltered terrace whilst guests were arriving. It looked and smelt amazing. On another table was arranged warm rice, Tacos, Tortilla wraps and a selection of mixed/chopped salads, jalapenos and dips to accompany the main dishes. It was a case of help yourself, have as much as you like as often as you like. We had a bit of everything and the food was really tasty. The waiting staff were very efficient and made sure your drinks orders were taken quickly, as and when required, and kept your tables clutter free. For the less experienced Mexican style diner the staff were on hand for a little guidance. To help set the atmosphere a professional musician meandered among the tables playing soft relaxing music on his guitar and occasionally making light conversation with the guests. All in all we had the most perfect evening. Great food, excellent service, nice atmosphere. All this from a little gem in the bustling city centre of Coventry. Its well worth keeping an eye on their website for when these speciality evenings pop up. Apparently they do different ones such as Greek nights too. Will give that a...
Read moreVisited this place after reading really good reviews. I cannot deny I was expecting more which is a shame really. Off the bat I must say they were understaffed (I was told they were a staff member down) and tried really hard as it was busy. We waited a really long time for our food to arrive and when you have a 3 & 5 year old, not cool! When the food did finally arrive there were a few issues which were resolvable if they only asked; I do believe they normally would and a missed opportunity to rectify the issues. Kids food was Ok they enjoyed it. the missus had Fish and chips fish was nice, but was placed ontop of the chips and this imo is a big no no, the chips were very greasy and not edible (again this could have been resolved easily) I had a 10oz ribeye steak (£20) and tbh looked small, it was cooked correctly and nice but had too much fat (I know ribeye has fat marbled and would not be as good with out it!, but when I say too much I mean above and beyond the marbling that is expected). So would we go back, unfortunately, probably not at the price. They were too long in serving (we waited an hour) and missed an opportunity to rectify the issues, what a shame! I would...
