Appleby's Torquay — Restaurant in England

Appleby's is part of the Heritage Hotel complex, which is a budget friendly hotel with great staff and beautiful views over the bay. Not really disabled friendly as they don't seem to have a lift and there are many stairs and corridors to navigate as the hotel appears to have been extended several times, although the bar is more accessible. I had been booked into a room on the second floor but when I arrived using a crutch they changed the room to the lowest possible floor before I even had chance to ask. My room was clean, recently decorated and had a very comfortable bed. It was very warm, the bathroom, although tiny, was spotlessly clean with complementary soap and shower gel. Tea and coffee making facilities and biscuits, replenished every day. Continental breakfast is included in the price of the room or can be upgraded to full English. The bar itself is decorated in a somewhat dated 1980's theme but clean and welcoming with a good variety of alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks. My partner and I went for same food at Appleby on Sunday 27th of October. We arrived around 2.45pm. The place was noy busy at all. The food was delicious and fresh made. My partner and I love the food. The food arrives in very short time. Unfortunately the lady over the counter was really slow and. unprofessional. I queued to order our mains and drinks and I have to waiting 15 or more minutes and she had to just serve 2 people (include myself). When I went back to order our desserts, she make pass 3 people before me and when I make her noticed that I was before the third gruop of people, she say rudely" they where in another area to waiting". When I arrived to the counter I had just one man in front of me I left it wasn't worth to wait as I can heard people complaining for the long waiting while the time at tge bar was not busy at all. I can’t give it a “0” star.......gutted. The manager is basically a thief. I paid for one of my labourers to stay for a week whilst he did some work for me. I paid up front with no bother. My labourer ( won’t mention any names ) decided he wanted to stay for another week because he loved the vibe in Torquay. But he didn’t like the way the manager was treating him so left after two days of being there. But because it was booked the manager decided he wanted the money. He illegally kept my card details for well over a week when data protection requires businesses to get rid of them when 24 hrs have passed and then tried to debit my account for over £300 !!! My bank alerted me. I was astonished. I reported it to Santander fraud squad and also the police. Disgusting !!! I will never use the place to eat let alone stay there....
