Break and Milk in Brighton is an absolute gem, especially for anyone passing through or near the station. Just a short walk away, this cozy coffee shop quickly became a favorite of mine. The atmosphere is welcoming, with a warm, relaxed vibe that makes it perfect for anything from a quick coffee run to a leisurely afternoon.
Their coffee is exceptional, crafted with care and high-quality beans that you can taste in every sip. I tried a flat white, which was smooth and perfectly balanced – you can tell they really know their coffee here. Their menu also has a great selection of pastries and snacks, each beautifully presented and delicious, making it hard to pick just one!
The staff were friendly and enthusiastic, clearly passionate about what they do and happy to chat about their favorite menu items. Even during busier hours, the service was prompt and the team seemed genuinely engaged with customers, which added to the positive experience.
For anyone near the station looking for a spot that offers both convenience and quality, Break and Milk is a must-visit. It’s the kind of place you’ll find yourself returning to again and again.

Read moreOn a recent visit to Brighton and finding Coffee at 33 closed, it closes at three, I decided to try Bread & Milk a little further down the street.
I once decided not to have a coffee at Bread & Milk, I cannot recall why. Coffee from Pharmacie, a good sign. Loud music not. Covid-19 death trap. I tell girl too loud. She cannot hear me.
Girl clueless on coffee. Chocolate dumped on top. I take it back. She argues with me. My fault for not telling her. My fault that she is clueless on coffee and I failed to second guess. Coffee hot, too much froth and foam. Quality of beans manages to prevail but not doing Pharmacie any favours.
Ambience pleasant, apart from girl serving, let down by lack of a skilled barista to do justice to the beans.
Note: As I learnt the following day, I mixed with a different place similar name. Not specialty coffee as sign says, once was, now Vietnamese food and coffee Vietnamese style with condensed milk (yuk).
Coronavirus biosecurity poor. Door open well ventilated, restrictions on numbers, but loud music blasting out, refusal to acknowledged a problem, let alone turn it down, turning Bread & Milk into a...

Very unfortunate experience I had when I turned up with a group of friends on our way back to London thought will use the loo before we head back and ordered 4 coffees 3 of them where flat white and 1 macchiato. When I tasted my flat white it was not even a good latte more like milk with a hint of coffee however when I asked the individual if I can kindly get a risotto shot added the individual very politely asked for £1.80 and I wasn’t happy pay for that due to poor training of staff. I didn’t want to embarrass the 2 people working there as I train barristers in London for the past 6 years it’s just unfortunate that the owners of this place may worked hard to get the place up and running but when you have negative customer service with attitude it’s not helpful. I knew exactly what was wrong with the coffee and it was the machine not being calibrated hence the inconsistent level of coffee being dispensed. Anyway thought I share my visit and hope the owners invest in customer service...
