This is one of the best whisky places I have ever been to. I am sorry that this review is not short but it is worth it. Then when you go you will see what I said stacks high.
The Dranks.... This place is run by a few awesome people who care about what things taste like so at the bar they have a LOT of open bottles of various colours, shapes, sizes, casks, strengths.... and a lot more. They have Chichibu, Stagg, single cask stuff i have never even seen anywhere else.... and also they do their own bottlings.
the Humans Hugo, Seb, Paul and Fergus are randomly there on random days and they know their stuff. The service from these guys and the way they are is as if you had known em for ages. You feel sad when you leave the place as if you were leaving a friends house and wanted to turn around back and see em the next day. Reality is most of us have work to do and so on.... lives to live and all that. Shame. I would work from this place if i could with laptop and drams.
the bar and place itself. The bar is not far from Brighton station. almost round the corner really. so you can just get here from London quickly or even if not quick... worth the mild pilgrimage. It is a cool as hell place. Upstairs. Downstairs. Walls with graffiti and scribblings that make you laugh with enough space to have mates as a gathering, cool lighting, cabinets that are lit with whisky.
The Doolars The prices here are spectacular. Stagg is at £13 and in London you need to pay £25 or more. The drams are at reasonable prices for pretty much everything. Even the rare stuff. When i am there i do not order more than one even if it is rare out of courtesy for other people since whisky is for drinking and should be drunken and enjoyed.
This is a gem of a bar and for all the tourists out there... it is an essential visit since they have great drinks, collaborate with local artists for bottle releases, have cool merch to grab when you're there like t-shirts or other things (take a bottle back away to your own country cos you ain't gonna find em there for sure) and you will think about this place for a long time, if not maybe eternity, from a visit to the establishment.
I can only really say, thanks for making the effort to look after people who want to drink something better, this...
Read moreAn absolute Brighton gem. We travelled here for a belated birth celebration with absolutely no whiskey knowledge. The bar is incredibly welcoming, with an impressive bottle selection, and the wonderful benefit being greeted of great, relaxed live music within their basement.
However this review goes to the incredible Paul, who led us through a few different drams over the course of the evening. He provided us with absolutely astonishing knowledge of the whiskey world, with such insight into the different distilling processes. He served us a real variety of drams so as to ease us into whiskies, whilst keeping on budget. But most importantly, he might just perhaps be the friendliest barman I've met! An absolute credit to the business and a true professional, and worth an entrance into Cut Your Wolf Loose in itself!
Only now...
Read moreIncredible service and drinks. Barman was very attentive (even noticing I clearly didn't like my drink much and adjusting it to my preferred flavour profile without me having to ask and playing music based on a conversation he overheard us talking about which was incredible attention to detail).
I'm not a whisky drinker. Or I thought I wasn't. The cocktails were a work of art though and it turns out, I do like whisky 😅
Hidden gem with incredibly knowledgeable staff....
