We have visited Cafe Nucleus in Rochester twice now and only found out about it for less than a month! The first time we booked was a fluke, we were looking to have breakfast outdoors somewhere and thought this looks nice, lets try. We were in for a treat! And I can officially say that in and around medway this is definitely my favourite place to have breakfast/brunch. I have always said the way staff treat you really makes or breaks a venue for me because there is so much choice around. Every single staff we have come across in this cafe is genuinely attentive and very friendly (but we particularly loved Ivan's vibe!). Lets start with the outdoors experience first: The trees and plants give it a tropical garden vibe and it it a very zen location. The outdoor decor is very nice and I loved the additional touch of having blankets on the chairs to wrap up in because everyone knows what the british weather is like! There is attention to even small details like the latte glass which is insulated keeping the drink warm outside whilst not burning your fingers. We tried the full english and the canadian breakfast on this trip and they were both very scrumptious! On our next visit we opted to have a seat inside. The building is truly magnificent and the christmas tree next to the opulent fireplace definitely makes if feel elegant but cosy. This time we opted for the caviar with scrambled eggs breakfast and the beef with horseradish sandwich, both of which again was superb. I quite enjoyed the bloody mary too, very well spiced! And do not forget on your way out to have a look in the gallery which has some very interesting prints and original art pieces to admire and purchase. I think I am definitely getting one myself on my next trip. Now for the only downside, I definitely advise to book in advance as they do not have many tables (especially indoors). Also the booking times are in around 1hr time slots and so you sort of are always on edge about having to leave. FAO Mamagement: One of your staff Ivan really goes above and beyond! He really is a delight

This place is always awesome! The decor is stylish, food is scrumptious and the staff are just amazing! So friendly and amenable. We went for brunch with our 3 yr old and they were more than happy to cater to our every need. He had the chocolate pancake stack that was absolutely incredible!! Drizzled chocolate, powdered sugar, raspberries, strawberries and blue berries. I had the California eggs: buttered muffins with mashed avocado, poached eggs and warm hollandaise sauce. I added a slice of Bacon. It was soo iso delicious I could have eaten it twice, if I wasn't so full from the first plate. Hubs had the French toast which vanished so fast I don't even have a description of it to leave here! He said it was "horrible" while cleaning his plate entirely. I agreed he must have hated it seeing as there wasn't a morstle in sight. Lol. To drink I had a bramble which came with frozen red currents and hubs had a long island iced tea which again was gone in seconds and professed as so horrid I wouldn't want to try any. I know he was just trying not to share it with me. They seated us outside but under the marquee. I asked to see if we could sit in the sun outside so as soon as one of those tables came up they had us on it. So friendly they giggled and joked with our 3 yr old son who is a total joker. As they always do!! I can't recommend this place highly enough to anyone. Especially if you are looking to take someone for a posh feeling spot of food. Sometimes it gets busy and fully booked so it's always worth calling ahead to make sure they can accommodate. Or actually making a booking. Definitely a place to try in Rochester. You won't regret it.

(A well deserved) 5 STARS! My family and I went for afternoon tea yesterday, this is probably one of the best afternoon teas I have had! My grandmother has had afternoon tea at the Ritz and she has said that this afternoon tea was on par! After reading the afternoon tea menu we was surprised that we had recieved an amuse boche of honey comb gelato which was creamy and tasty (this definitely got our tastebuds going)! We then recieved sandwhiches, cakes, macaroons and truffles which were absolutely scrumptious! We was then asked if we would like to recieve any more sandwiches (which we had to politely decline as there was so much food). After that we was then surprised with some delectable pastries (another bonus). After we had finished our delicious display of food we then recieved a box of freshly baked scones (which were still warm), they were just delectable. The staff were very professional, friendly, attentive and very accommodating, my grandad is unable to walk up the stairs and we was able to sit downstairs comfortably. The service at cafe nucleus is absolutely wonderful, which brings a touch of well needed elegance to Rochester. Thankyou for a wonderful afternoon tea and we hope to see you again in the future.

Lovely cafe. This is an up market cafe more like a restaurant with outside space. Everything is clean and smart. There is also art to look at if you want. Unusually for such a smart place they allow dogs and even provide dog water. Staff are polite and helpful. I had fruit salad and I don't usually like raspberry or pears but they were very nice in this dish. I had a fruit salad and a coffee and it came to 11.50 I think it was. The decaf late was very nice and smooth too. I will definitely be going back again. Only downfall was the 'techno jazz' playing in the background (it may not have been that but that's the closest explanation of music) and Harry Potter being played in the toilet (I wouldn't have minded something by Charles Dickens or something in keeping like that). But all in all a lovely experience. I would sit outside in the summer though as inside was rather hot.

I was looking forward to afternoon tea the atmosphere was lovely as was the surroundings. What I was disappointed with was the fact that when I booked I mentioned a seafood allergy twice and when we arrived I was assured they had taken this into account. The food when it came was on a 2 tier stand with salmon sandwiches tucked in on the same plate with everything else and no provision made to substitute the salmon that I could not eat for an alternative. I got to eat 3 little sandwiches. We then asked for one of our party to have coffee instead of tea which was accommodated we requested lactose free milk only to find out on the second cup that the first was not lactose free which caused my friend no end of stomach problems later. I also thought for £30 a head they could of done better as I consider this quite expensive for what we received.

Found at the end of the historic Rochester high street, Cafe Nucleus sits in a grand building with the thrill of London minus the crowds. The decor at first drew me in with carefully thought out artwork peppered over every floor. The grand piano that sits on the first floor offers a classy feel as do the attentive and friendly staff. In true fashion, I ordered a full English breakfast which was quite possibly the best yet. There was an option of white, brown or sourdough bread and a chance to modify the dish. The herbs and vegetables were fresh, there were plentiful baked beans and the meat was cooked just right. I also tried the vegetable sausages which were equally juicy. Thank you for having us!
